Dustin Poirier may be done with the UFC grind, but his disciplined macro-counting habits appear to have passed down to his daughter, Parker Noelle Poirier.

Chatting with Joe Rogan on JRE MMA Show #176, Dustin Poirier shared that he’s feeling better than ever, especially now that he’s done counting every macro on his plate. “I feel good, dude. It feels good to eat and not count carbohydrates and calories,”

Rogan then asked whether, despite his retirement, those habits still come back to him. Poirier explained that for the last 20 years, he was managing every macro, “looking at the back of every label, being really cautious what I eat.”

He added that this habit has rubbed off on his daughter, “It's like ingrained in my daughter now. When we go to Whole Foods, she'll grab something off the counter and say, "Dad, it only has three ingredients." Like, she knows what's up.”

During his weight cuts, Dustin Poirier would drop his intake to around 1,300–1,500 calories a day. In the offseason, though, that number climbed to 2,500–3,500+.

Even with the UFC PI tracking every macro, Poirier still made it a point to stay on top of what he was putting into his body. Well, even though he has left the sport, the sport has yet to leave him.

Dustin Poirier confesses to struggling after retirement

On the very same episode with Joe Rogan, Dustin Poirier expressed that since retiring from the UFC last year, he has been going through a tough phase in terms of routine.

“I don’t know who I am without fighting. Fighting was a cloud in my mind that never went away for 20 years. Now I wake up, and it’s gone. What do I do? I’m still trying to find out,” said Poirier.

Before his retirement, Poirier confessed that once he stepped away, he’d focus on lifting and getting as jacked as possible. And while he does look more jacked now, it seems the thrill of the Octagon is still calling his name.
