8x Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman claims he never counted calories except protein and carbs

Ronnie Coleman's intense workouts were a significant reason behind his unreal physique. However, the way he counted his nutrient intake also played a massive role in developing his insane build.

On April 21, the 8-time Mr. Olympia shared a short clip on his Instagram account, revealing his protein intake. The King said, “600 grams of protein. Even on a diet, Protein did not change.”

Right after that, when the bodybuilder was asked about the calories he used to consume at the time, Coleman revealed, “I have no idea. Never counted. Only thing I counted was protein and carbs.”

It shows that Coleman dominated the bodybuilding stage not only through his workouts but also through his diet.

On July 22, 2024, Coleman shared a video of himself working out with Tommy Fury, a British professional boxer, in which he admitted, “I used to think it was all about lifting in the gym until I hooked up with my last nutritionist, Chad. If you wanna get big, you have to eat big. He took me from my 10 ounces of chicken, steak, turkey, whatever meat, to 16”.

According to him, he started eating 6 meals a day from there. The journey was not easy because, to meet his quota, the bodybuilding legend had to wake up in the middle of the night, eat, and then go back to bed. So, let's see what a typical day of diet looked like for the giant bodybuilder.

First meal of Ronnie Coleman: Breakfast

  • 2 egg white cups
  • Grits
  • Fat-free cheese
  • Bacon
  • Coffee
  • A bowl of coffee with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dash of Splenda for sweetness.

After that, Coleman used to take his multivitamins.

After breakfast, Coleman started getting ready for his gym session, and as a pre-workout, he used to drink a protein shake with 2 scoops of protein powder and cocoa powder for flavor.

2nd meal: Post-workout meal

His post-workout meals included:

  • Check breasts with veggies and rice
  • Fat-free French fries.

3rd meal: Lunch

During his preparation of Mr. Okympia's content in Arlington, the legend often ate at restaurants. One of his favorite restaurants was Black-eyed Peas, where Coleman used to eat BBQ chicken with steamed vegetables and yellow rice.

4th meal: Dinner

For this, he used to consume:

  • Low-fat burgers
  • Home-cooked rice
  • Sometimes rice and white fish.

5th meal: Second dinner

Most of the time, for his 5th meal, Coleman preferred restaurants where he mostly ate chicken breast and rice. It helped him satisfy his taste.

6th meal: Supper

His 6th meal mostly consisted of a protein shake. Apart from that, the bodybuilder also took his multivitamins at that time, which included:

  • ZMA
  • BCAA
  • Arginine.

So, the road to becoming an 8-time Mr. Olympia was not easy for Coleman. But with consistency and hard work, he created a new legacy.
