Fitness Influencer Jesse James West Asks Rhea Ripley if WWE Is Real
One of the most common narratives surrounding WWE is that its matches are scripted. This is what the fitness-based social media influencer, Jesse James West, asked the reigning WWE Women's Champion, Rhea Ripley.
"So is the WWE real? Is wrestling real?" West posed a question to Ripley that he later shared on his Instagram on June 10.
"Realer than you think. It's a lot realer than anyone thinks," Ripley answered while dealing with the question with ease.
Ripley, known for her easygoing persona, recently caught up with West, where the two trained together. That's when 'Mami' gave the social media persona a firsthand experience of what WWE stars face multiple times each week.
While Ripley answered West's question, the video displaying her changed to a snippet of the duo's mock in-ring drill 10 minutes later, when he posed the question.
It showcased the reigning WWE Women's Champion knocking West down to the canvas with a running shoulder block.
Ripley has built an impressive résumé in WWE, highlighted by multiple championship wins and major match victories. She became Women’s World Champion on January 6, 2025, and has also held the Raw Women’s Championship (WrestleMania 37).
In addition, she previously captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship and later won the women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series 2025.
While Ripley dealt with West's question lightly, other WWE stars don't mind giving reality checks to those calling the WWE "fake."
Becky Lynch Comments on Ronda Rousey’s Views on WWE Presentation
Ronda Rousey is an unmistakable name in the world of women's combat sports. After her glorious UFC run as the promotion's inaugural women's bantamweight champion, Rousey transitioned to the WWE and showed her mettle inside the ring as well.
However, Rousey left the WWE about five years after her entry, citing multiple reasons, including creative differences. During her appearance in a 2020 episode of Steve-O’s Wild Ride podcast, Rousey also called the WWE "fake fighting for fun."
One of the WWE stars who responded to Rousey's remarks strongly was the former WWE Women's Champion, Becky Lynch. During one of her ESPN interviews with Ariel Helwani, Lynch responded critically to Rousey’s comments.
"I think it’s completely disrespectful," she said.
Years later, the debate still continues.
