Gina Carano Opens Up on Calorie-Deficient Diet & Physical Hardships After Ronda Rousey Loss
The American actress Gina Carano and the MMA fighter Ronda Rousey faced each other on May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, where Rousey defeated Carano in the first round by submission in just 17 seconds.
After the match, Carano went on social media and talked about her diet and physical hardships. On May 19, she dropped a carousel of photos and video on her Instagram, captioning,
“I’ve been in a caloric deficit for a year, training felt like swimming as hard as I could upstream. I can count on two hands the number of times I felt good training. It was physically the hardest thing I’ve ever done, taking the weight off while turning back into an athlete,” said Carano.
Further in the post, Carano wrote about how much weight she lost and the pressure of the fight.
“I felt like a science experiment losing 100lbs. Every week, the pressure of how to get that little bit off. I learned a little late how to do it healthier, but trial by fire”.
By preparing for this fight, the actress had implemented permanent changes in her lifestyle. And now she believes that it's just the beginning and said, “I can’t wait to see where I can push my body to go next.”
Even though she lost the fight, she maintained sportsmanship and wrote kind words to her opponent about the wonderful experience she had with Rousey during the fight.
However, she was on a calorie-deficient diet, but she recently revealed her cheat meal after the fight.
Gina Carano’s Post-Fighting Cheat Meal
On May 17, Carano posted a video on Instagram in which she was seen talking to the BBC Sport. When asked about her cheat meal after the fight, the actress revealed the meal that satisfies that craving, which includes:
- Fried chicken
- Steak
- Eggs
- Biscuits
- Some gravy
Apart from this, a hearty breakfast is her go-to cheat meal after a fight.
After her recent fight with Rousey, she posted another video on her social media on May 20, where she also talked about eating something good.
In the video, the MMA fighter was seen trying to balance a basketball on her fingers. She captioned the video as “Going to enjoy some Chicago-style pizza for the first time in what seems like FOREVER, but tomorrow, back to work.”
However, she has incorporated healthy eating and training into her life, but she believes indulging in something helps sustain her diet.
