Gina Carano’s Boxing Trainer Shares Gym Insights Ahead of Ronda Rousey Fight

Gina Carano is overhauling her training camp ahead of a clash with Ronda Rousey. Boxing coach Chris Ben revealed Carano is focusing on specific strategic adjustments for the bout. New footage from Namea Boxing Gym shows the fighter transition from a Muay Thai base to a more rounded MMA style.

Carano is training hard, recovering carefully, and above all, keeping her peace of mind intact. In a recently released sneak peek of her training camp, Gina Carano's boxing coach shared some inside details of her preparation.

"There's direction in this camp. Like we're training for a specific person, for a specific fight. She wants this. This is the fight that she wants. This is what we're did all the preparation for."

Carano is training with Ben at the Namea Boxing Gym in Las Vegas. Ben shared that Carano's objective is to show her capabilities to the fullest rather than just get in the cage and fight. She wants to fight to the best of her abilities to prove her worth to herself.

Chris Ben has been Carano's boxing coach from the time she started her professional career. Talking about her skills as a fighter, Ben says that she has a good instinct for fighting and is a savant when it comes to learning new things. The video showed her practicing her striking and boxing with Ben guiding her at every step.

The Muay Thai champion also revealed that over the training camp, she has evolved from being just a Muay Thai fighter. She said, "I was a Muay Thai fighter, and that was my base. And I would say right now I'm much more of a mixed martial arts, like full-rounded fighter."

She added, "All of the technique and the style and everything is still there, which is so cute cuz like some of my coaches are like, 'Oh man, you still got it.' I'm like, "Well, I hope so."

Who trained Gina Carano for the upcoming fight?

Chris Ben is just a cog in the big wheel. Gina Carano is working with a team of coaches and training partners who are working day and night to prepare her for the biggest fight of her career.

John Woods heads the coaching team along with Ryan Diaz, who is her training partner. On March 5, Gina Carano was training with former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili in one of her training sessions and even compared him to ‘The Machine’s’ vitality to Hollywood stars.
