“I was my heaviest I'd ever been. I was 200 lbs. ... I just wasn't feeling great”, that's what Meghan Elizabeth Trainor said after giving birth to her first son, Riley,  via c-section.

That condition, along with a gestational diabetes diagnosis during her pregnency drives her consciousness for weight loss and staying healthy.

Since then, she has lost 60 pounds with the help of strength training and diet. And she resumed her training after welcoming her second son, Barry, in 2023.

Regular strength training plays a vital role in her transformation. The singer said, “I try to go three times a week of lifting weights,” to Today. She further “I didn’t know lifting weights would change my life so much.”

“All About That Bass,” singer told while speaking to Women's Health, “I lost so much weight that my b**** is looking different. I was like, 'Wait. I'm the 'Bass' girl with a big b***!' [I've been trying to] lift heavier and do [more] glute activities.”

Meghan Trainor said that lifting gives her energy, and she can lift her children “up like a dumbbell,” jokingly.

She even told People, “I’m feeling fit. I’ve never been so fit,” and further added, “I already told my household. I was like, ‘I am training for the Olympics, okay?’ I want to train and eat clean, and feel good when I’m dancing and singing. I don’t wanna be so winded, because right now, I’m winded.”

She started lifting with her husband, Daryl Sabara, and sometimes spends gym sessions with both her husband and her brother, Ryan Trainor.

With and interver with USA Today, she told “It was tough to look at my body. I’m always singing about loving myself, and it got harder and harder with all the scars and stretch marks.”

Meghan Trainor speaks about her struggles with body image post-delivery to Entertainment Tonight  Canada. She went for therapy sessions for a couple of weeks to retain the mindset that she is still attractive and everything is good and okay.

Apart from this exercise and training sessions, another factor in her transformation is her diet.

Meghan Elizabeth Trainor’s diet

Meghan Trainor prioritizes protein-dense meals, aiming for 100 grams of protein a day. She prefers whole foods to highly processed foods.

According to Women’s Health, her breakfast includes two eggs and turkey bacon. For her lunch and dinner, she depends on meal delivery services.

She shared that, “I wish I knew how to cook. I make bland stuff,” she said. “But my husband is a nerd about finding food delivery companies that give you protein and help you out with a journey like that. So we’re always looking for a new one.”

The singer eats a well-balanced, nutritious diet to stay fit and healthy. She believes in moderation and portion control when it comes to eating.
