Longevity in the world of bodybuilding is not common, but Dexter Jackson made it his greatest strength.

The 56-year-old body builder, with his impressive physique, has won the hearts of millions since his debut at the Mr. Olympia stage in 1999.

On February 4, 2026, Desktop Bodybuilding praised the retired American bodybuilder by sharing clips of his appearances in the 4 Mr. Olympia: 1999, 2008, 2015, and 2020 with the caption, “Four decades. Same legend”.

What is interesting to see is that Dexter Jackson maintained the same level of physical conditioning even after decades.

His bodybuilding journey began in 1992, when the retired IFBB Pro competed at the NPC Southern States in the lightweight division and placed 3rd.

After a few years, in 1999, he first appeared on the biggest stage of bodybuilding and placed 9th position. That year, the lineup featured legends like Ronnie Coleman, Flex Wheeler, and Chris Cormier, and still, Jackson’s massive size helped him get attention.

Then came the night in 2008 when The Blade earned his first Mr. Olympia title by defeating legend Jay Cutler and rookie Phil Heath.

Jay Cutler, in 2022, recalled his loss to Jackson and said, “I think losing to Dexter was the best thing to ever happen to me. I think I get complacent. I think I get used to winning”.

After 7 years of hard work, in 2025, Jackson placed 2nd in Mr. Olympia, and in 2020, he placed 9th and announced his retirement.

However, before ending his storied career, he boasted a record-breaking 29 professional wins. He is also the winner of 5 Arnold Classics.

Though he retired in 2020, fans still praise him for his tenacity. That is why the post reads, “From rookie to champion to all-time longevity king. Top 10 at the Olympia across four different decades is something we may never see again”.

Jackson may not return to Mr. Olympia or any other competition, but he still has the same longevity that he proved again in 2025.

Dexter Jackson still holds the power

Jackson shared an Instagram video on April 5, 2025, while exercising.

The video captioned, “arm day for me!💪🏽💪🏽 What about you guys??”. In that video, he was captured doing:

  • Machine preacher curls
  • Barbell curls
  • Spider curls
  • Two variations of triceps pushdowns
  • Diamond pushups.

Even his workout session attracted the 7-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath, who commented, “get after it, dammit. Let's go!!!💪🏽”.

When fans started viewing that video as a possible comeback, the veteran posted another update saying, “Still hard at work even while retired,” and ended the speculation.

Not only that, but he still posts videos of his workouts and keeps reminding his fans that he still has it.
