How Did Khabib Nurmagomedov Eat & Maintain His Diet During His Prime UFC Years
Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the UFC to date with a record of 29-0. He has had one of the most dominant runs inside the octagon. For achieving such a huge feat, it is obvious that ‘The Eagle’ had a disciplined diet and workout routine that he followed religiously.
He started his day with a smoothie, consisting of grass-fed whey protein, banana, and pea protein powder or brown rice blended with ice and water.
The former UFC Lightweight Champion had to follow a well-organized meal plan that included five meals per day, mostly consisting of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats.
Lunch consisted of a variety of greens, including salad with cabbage, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, cucumbers, and baby romaine. Evenings were again full of protein (boiled eggs) and fresh vegetables.
He wrapped up his day with grilled or slow-cooked turkey or chicken, black beans, and asparagus. The Russian legend had a very basic supplementation routine, mostly consisting of fish oil and Himalayan pink salt. Fresh juices and fruits were must-haves for Nurmagomedov.
However, his 29-0 record wouldn’t have been established without a thorough workout routine. Let’s take a look at it.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s workout routine
For Khabib Nurmagomedov, weight management was a huge part of his workout routine. He used a Russian sauna session once a week to cut out excess water weight. This is a traditional approach that is paired well with a low-tech, high-discipline training philosophy.
His workout routine included a variety of exercises. He began his morning with a 90-minute run, followed by technical work in the gym with his training partner, focusing mostly on martial arts and refining his techniques.
Nurmagomedov’s evenings were set aside for sparring or grappling, during which he was often seen guiding and mentoring Islam Makhachev, another Dagestani UFC champion who has cemented his status as one of the top fighters.
Even though the Russian legend had a very basic set of workouts, his training regimen looked quite raw and unfiltered. He lifted rocks, performed high-level calisthenics movements, ran, and shadowboxed.
Do you think Islam Makhachev is following in Nurmagomedov’s footsteps, or will he outshine ‘The Eagle’ soon?
