How Dorian Yates Turned Passion Into DY Nutrition

Dorian Yates conquered the bodybuilding world six times, and then pivoted to the business side of bodybuilding and fitness with equal progress.
In his March 3rd Instagram post, Yates explained that sports nutrition always fascinated him. "I always had a keen interest in sports nutrition - it appealed to me," Yates wrote in the caption.
"Some years after retiring, I came to start DY Nutrition, and we’ve gone from strength to strength," added Dorian Yates.
Yates launched DY Nutrition in 2011 as a supplement company that offers pre-workouts, health products, and protein powder.
According to the retired British bodybuilder, DY Nutrition is the outcome of his own experience. He said, “Throughout my career, I was using supplements, a protein supplement being the first, especially when I was working various jobs and struggled to get all my meals in etc.”
Yates was among the first bodybuilders to use amino acids after workouts. While revealing his use of creatine, The Shadow said, “In the 90s I came across it, and we’re finding out even today more and more benefits that it can provide”.
Yet, as the brand continues to grow, it has faced challenges.
Dorian Yates Put Customers Before Profit
DY Nutrition recently bolstered security measures amid a surge in counterfeit products on the black market.
In 2024, Yates and the team alerted buyers after identifying a counterfeit supplement using the same LOT number as the DY Nutrition batch.
To address the issue, Yates ordered the destruction of stock. "To protect you, we are currently in the process of implementing advanced, multi-layered security features on all our labels," said Dorian Yates and his team.
"This will allow you to instantly verify the authenticity of your product and access quality control documents by simply scanning a QR code," he added.
So it's no wonder that Yates said, "Dorian Yates Nutrition is my company… I’m extremely proud of it."
