How 50-Year-Old Pedro Pascal Has Maintained His Fitness Over The Years

From playing Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones to the Mandalorian and now Mr. Fantastic in the MCU, Pedro Pascal has never shied away from a physically demanding role. However, unlike many of his superhero movie co-stars, Pascal's approach isn't too intense.

Back in May 2025, the 50-year-old star told Entertainment Weekly about how he approaches fitness and diet.

“My workout routine? Just the basics. Get up, do something, stay busy, eat right, get sleep, eat your Wheaties," revealed the Last of Us star.

This lines up with what Pascal's trainer, David Higgins, shared back in 2023 about the actor's workouts while preparing for The Last of Us season 1.

"It was more to do with finding his physicality within the character... It was about being mobile and strong and efficient with his movements," Higgins told GQ. That's what the trainer focused on while designing a strength training regimen that included:

  • Abs
  • Calisthenics
  • Mobility work.

Together, they also designed a circuit-style exercise routine that helped the actor build strength, conditioning, and agility. Pascal continues each workout for 60 seconds, then switches to another workout after a 30-second rest. The circuit's moments are:

Mountain Climbers

This movement helps Pascal:

  • Reducing joint stress
  • Improving accessibility and form
  • Improving cardiovascular and core engagement
  • Activate muscles such as the shoulders, core, glutes, abdominals, and quadriceps.

Bulgarian Split Squats

The benefits that Pascal gets from this exercise are:

  • It develops and targets glutes, quads, hamstrings, adductors, and calves
  • It boasts stability and balance
  • It enhances athleticism.

Swimmers

Swimming is a total body movement that targets:

  • Back, legs, core, and arms.
  • Boosts cardiovascular situation
  • It is good to get toned muscles
  • This exercise also helps Pascal in weight management.

Plank and Push-Ups

Push-ups are more beneficial than traditional planks.

  • It helps stabilize the back and improve posture.
  • It improves mental toughness.
  • This exercise is good for working the rectus abdominals, trapezoids, glutes, and obliques. It is beneficial to build a powerful midsection.

While many actors like Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, and Henry Cavill have transformed their physiques for certain roles, Pedro Pascal takes a much more attainable route to building a fit physique, even at 50.
