How Tom Brady Trains at 48 in His Home Gym
At 48, Brady still trains every muscle group daily — a philosophy most athletes half his age skip. The former American football quarterback and 7-time Super Bowl champion recently shared his training routine, which he follows in his home gym.
On May 10, the official YouTube channel of Internet personality Jesse James West shared a video titled “Trying Tom Brady's Anti-aging Morning Routine.” In the video, Brady shared his morning routine with James West.
While filming the video, the veteran NFL player also shared his home-gym training routine, which began at 8:30 AM, and said,
“I try to find like one type of equipment for every muscle group.”

His training philosophy is simple:
“We should always train every body part. At least every muscle should get some work and attention every day.”
This home gym has dedicated sections for training every muscle group, such as:
- Bench press
- Cable stack
- Leg curls
- Leg extension
- Back extension
- Hip abductor
- Dumbbells rack
- Lateral pull in squat position
- Treadmill running
Apart from this, to maintain his physique, Brady also swims and practices golf. Both sports improve his fitness by building stamina, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness.
Along with training and working out, the football player pays close attention to his recovery. He revealed his secret to surviving in the NFL and said
“Was doing all the right recovery treatments after games, before practices, and after practices.”
However, training and diet are the two essential elements for building a healthy and fit physique; the same formula applies to the former football player as well.
Tom Brady’s diet
In the video ahead, after completing his training and morning routine, Brady shared his morning smoothie with James West.
The 3-time NFL MVP’s morning smoothie includes:
- Blueberries
- Bananas
- Chia seeds
- Hemp seeds
- Flax seeds
- Almond milk
- Whey protein isolate
Not only does he start his day with healthy eating, but Brady also follows a very healthy diet known as the TB12 diet. In fact, Brady himself wrote a book, “The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance,” in 2017.
According to Today.com, Brady’s TB12 Method includes a plant-based, anti-inflammatory diet along with functional workouts, hydration, and sleep. He follows the 80-20 rule in his diet, meaning he prefers 80 percent plant-based foods and 20 percent animal-based foods.
So, this perfect concoction of regular training and healthy, mindful eating is the real secret of a 48-year-old former NFL player.
