IFBB Pro Sandra Lombardo passes away at 49 after cancer battle

The bodybuilding world is mourning the loss of yet another beloved athlete. Sandra Lombardo, Women's Physique IFBB Pro, passed away battling cancer at the age of 49 on June 24.

The news first surfaced through Rx Muscle - Truth in Bodybuilding on July 8, 2026. Lombardo earned her pro card in 2012 and quickly built a stunning resume in bodybuilding.

She was well known for her tight waistline, sharp V-taper, and consistently high level of conditioning. Lombardo competed on big stages, including the Arnold Classic and Mr. Olympia, going head-to-head with some of the best in the world.

Lombardo was also known for being active on social media, often sharing her training schedule and routine, dietary preferences, and insights. She also interacted with her fans quite often.

Although the specifics of her diagnosis remain unknown, her close ones have always spoken highly of her about the impact she left on the bodybuilding and fitness community.

Rx Muscle's tribute, as published on Fitness Volt, highlighted her presence on two of bodybuilding's grandest stages and noted a personal passion outside the sport, saying she leaves behind "a legacy of resilience and determination that will never be forgotten."

Moreover, she was a passionate equestrian and owner of Royal Thoroughbred Racing Stables, as per Addison Funeral Home, which reported her passing as well.

The passing of Lombardo comes days after two more bodybuilding legends pass away

The news of Sandra Lombardo comes during a time when the bodybuilding community is already dealing with two more recent losses.

Fitness influencer Connor Murphy passed away aged 32 due to a suspected drowning accident. Moreover, José Antonio "Jocha" Hernández Torres, a bodybuilder crowned Mr. Universe in 2004, passed away aged 57 for unknown reasons.

With the passing of Lombardo, another name is added to the list. The bodybuilding world mourns the loss of these greats.

We pray that their families and loved ones find strength in these hard times.
