Inside Nafessa Williams' 20-Minute Workout for Getting Back Into Fitness

Busy schedules often make regular workouts hard to maintain. But for Rivals actress Nafeesa Williams, a simple 20-minute exercise routine helps her to stay fit and energized.

According to Williams, it’s quite natural to be drained after a hectic schedule and find it challenging to make time for workouts. While she typically enjoys running, yoga, and cycling, they can’t always fit into her demanding schedule. That’s when she turns to her treadmill and dumbbells.

“Honestly, I hadn’t worked out in three weeks, I wasn’t feeling too well, but I’m back – and the first day is the hardest day, so keep going, stay focused," she said in an Instagram video. "Consistency is key, even if it’s 30 minutes, we can commit to that… or try to."

Williams shot the video in her home garage, which she posted on Instagram.

“Working out helps me mentally prepare for my day. It’s gon always be a priority even if I only have 20-30 mins.," Williams wrote in the caption.

Her workout plan is short and realistic, and can easily be performed without equipment or weights. She begins with a 15-minute treadmill walk- perfect for warming up your muscles and activating your heart.

Next, she recommends doing three sets of Donkey Kicks with Fire Hydrants with 20 reps each. This exercise targets the hips and glutes while improving strength and stability.

Then, she moves on to doing three sets of 20 bicycle crunches to get a toned midsection. Finally, she recommends cooling down with stretches of your choice.

Many assume that a 20-minute workout should consist only of high-intensity ab workouts or strength training. However, without proper warm-ups and cool-downs, chances of injury increase, especially after a long break in training.

Williams’s choice of stretching was a hurdler hamstring stretch and a pigeon pose stretch.

Through the video, she captured how just 20 minutes of consistency can help one get back into a good fitness routine without feeling overwhelmed. Of course, Williams' lifestyle and diet changes also contributed immensely to her transformation.

Why Nafessa Williams Made the Switch to a Vegan Diet

Many celebrities have recently opened up about how adopting a plant-based diet has benefited them. Williams shares a similar opinion, sharing her thoughts on going vegan.

For Williams, veganism is a choice she is making every day. She is more mindful about what she consumes, taking the time to read labels, study nutrition, and find better plant-based options.

When asked about how she hits her protein goals, she mentioned legumes, tofu, and quinoa. Moreover, she noticed massive changes in her digestive system, sleep cycle, and energy levels after incorporating more vegetables in her diet.

Weight management also became easier, as plant-based diets eliminate most saturated fats. Not surprisingly, the secret to her youthful and glowing skin also lay in her dier. The natural antioxidants in fresh fruits and vegetables help reduce wrinkles and fight oxidative stress.

Above all, she stresses how to feel comfortable just being who we are.

"It’s necessary at a time like now when everyone is changing the way they look and wanting to follow the trends of so-called beauty," she said. "It feels like no one is cool with being themselves anymore."

Looks like the key to youth and beauty isn't that hard after all. Consistent daily movement and a clean diet are all it takes, as Williams proves.
