Irish PM offers Shamrocks to Trump, Jimmy Kimmel pokes fun at his diet

Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin and Donald Trump celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with the customary shamrock bowl presentation this year as well, but what stood out was Jimmy Kimmel using the incident to mock Trump.
Martin and Trump met at the White House on March 17 to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, where Martin observed the Irish tradition by presenting Trump with the bowl of shamrocks. It didn't take Kimmel long to carve a joke out of the incident that mocked Trump's food habits.
On the March 17 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host implied that the bowl of shamrocks was the closest Trump got to vegetables in a long time. He said, “Prime Minister Martin brought a bowl of shamrocks to the president, which is a customary gift and also the closest Trump's gotten to salad that isn't in a taco shell in quite some time.”

While many viewers enjoyed the humour, some have questioned whether Kimmel’s show has become centered only on the current US President.
Interestingly, the joke also raises an often-discussed theme: Trump’s real-life meals, which have recently drawn attention following the US Health Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s remarks.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. opens up on Donald Trump’s eating habits
According to Kennedy Jr., the 79-year-old US President follows a “very unhealthy” eating habit. During his appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast in January 2026, he said:
“The interesting thing about the president is that he eats really bad food, which is McDonald's, and then candy and Diet Coke”.
Kennedy Jr. also revealed that while the president eats slightly healthy at Mar-a-Lago or at the White House, his diet worsens during his trips. RFK. Jr. added that the president drinks Diet Coke constantly, which gives him the impression that the POTUS pumps himself "full of poison all day long”.
However, despite Trump's flawed diet, RFK Jr. was surprised by the president's energy levels. He said, “You don't know how he's walking around, much less being the most energetic person any of us have ever met”.
So, after learning all this, do you think Trump should change his food habits? He seems to be doing pretty well, though.
