Jaron Ennis’s Training Regimen: Boxing Drills and Functional Strength Exercises

Undefeated American professional boxer and welterweight Jaron Ennis(35-0-1) recently showcased his training routine on an Instagram video posted by @matchroomboxing. The video features Ennis engaging in intense boxing drills that would readily knock down even the strongest competitors.

The video gives an insight into Ennis’s brutal training regimen. It showcases the intense hard work Ennis puts in to retain his ‘undefeated’ title. A second video shows Ennis hacking up a large piece of wood in three swings. No doubt, the icon has worked hard on gaining massive upper-body and core strength.

“We gon’ cut him up. We gon’ rip him up, cut him up, make sure he bl***,” said Ennis after splitting the log into two.

Ennis engaged in fast-paced boxing drills while his team cheered him on. His training drills help him build timing, speed, and ring awareness. Moreover, his functional strength exercises help him improve athleticism, power, balance, and stability.

“It doesn’t matter where we’re fighting, I’m going to train just as hard. We prepare for every single fight like it’s a world title fight,” he said, as per Fight News.

Ennis admits that he often watches his father and brother, learning from their mistakes.

“My discipline comes from my dad and watching the mistakes my brothers made outside of the ring during their careers,” he says on Boxing Connect.

Jaron Ennis’s Journey into the World of Boxing

Ennis was born into a family of boxers in Philadelphia with a renowned trainer as a father and two successful boxers as older brothers. Ennis grew up in an environment that enabled his passion.

He began training at a young age, and by 2015, had already won three major national tournaments. He went on to win a silver medal at the U.S National Golden Gloves (2014) and won a gold medal in the following year.  He also won the Youth National Championships.

Overall, he captured multiple national titles, finally ending his amateur career with an overall record of 58-3.

What's even more surprising is that he not only earned a spot at the 2016 Olympics but also won the Olympic Trials Qualifier. He finally reached the last stage of the Olympic selection, but only missed it by a hair.

Being raised in a boxing family definitely came with its perks, as Ennis was able to explore his passion early on. Moreover, he successfully transformed his amateur career into an undefeated title, becoming world-renowned within a few years.
