Jay Cutler Explains Why Him & Ronnie Coleman Were Different Than Phil Heath

Jay Cutler, the 4-time Mr. Olympia, talks about the differences between himself and 8-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman, with Phil Heath as a variation in their training and overall fitness approaches.

On May 20, the Instagram account of Cutler cast shared a short video of Cutler discussing the different training processes used by the 3 bodybuilding legends.

Talking about Heath, Cutler said, “I watched Phil do this a lot. Phil could use a pretty heavy weight and do pull-downs, and he could actually hold and squeeze to really contract the muscle and lock the muscle.”

Comparing this with himself and The King, Cutler said, “Me and Ronnie we would just train and move. And listen, I feel like if I did have a little more contraction hold, I probably would have had more detail in my physique.”

Talking about facts, Heath’s training approach was built around constant tension, isolating specific muscles, and strict form.

When Heath’s back was criticized for being underdeveloped and narrow around 2010, the Gift worked on it using the FST-7 method and a higher-volume workout. Heath’s back routine mostly included exercises like high rows, seven-set finishers, and, most notably, front pulldowns designed to enhance muscle fullness.

On the contrary, Cutler and Coleman focused on heavy pulldowns, emphasizing thickness and width.

While Cutler revealed the different training methods between him and Heath, the 2 have something in common. They both still look huge and conditioned.

In the post, the 7-time Mr. Olympia wrote, “Shoutout to my Brother @jaycutler for bringing the fun back for me as it was cool to hit some poses with the man who’s helped me in more ways than one.”

Heath also said, “Now this is the posedown we’ve all been waiting for! These moments allow me to reflect on the importance of being in proximity with positive, hard-working, growth mindset people that truly give a damn about their success.

Looking forward to our next posedown! Love to All!"

The 2 continue to motivate fitness enthusiasts by being the top ambassadors of bodybuilding. They met on May 14 after more than 10 years, which excited many fans.

Apart from that, the 2 also joined a triceps- and chest-focused training session.
