José María Giménez thanks Mufit Cr for support during training

After a devastating ankle injury sidelined the Uruguayan footballer from the World Cup, José María Giménez has returned to the gym with intention and gratitude.

The Atlético Madrid centre-back recently shared a carousel post from his training session at Mufit Cr, a gym situated in the centre of Mallorca. The gym also posted a reel of the soccer player, who trained under the center's founder, Cristòfol Rigo, for the week.

The translated caption, originally in Spanish, read: "Thank you @mufit_cr for having me the way you did." Thanking Rigo, Giménez added, "@riguiitoo thank you for helping me through this work week."

Rigo also commented on the Instagram post.

"Working with professionals like you is a pleasure. Thank you for the treatment and the closeness. @mufit_cr is your home!" showcasing the mutual respect.

Across the pictures, the Uruguayan soccer player trained with resistance bands, plyo boxes, and medicine balls, showcasing both the intensity and his dynamic training approach.

Moreover, Giménez's focus at the moment would be on proper recovery if he plans on returning to the field soon. In fact, the footballer left the World Cup without a single minute on the pitch.

Now, Giménez is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for the comeback.

José María Giménez's gruelling sessions under Diego Simeone

José María Giménez follows an extensive training session alongside his teammates at Atlético Madrid, under coach Diego Simeone.

As per Dario Grabusic on YouTube, who posted a complete hour-long session of the team, Simeone's training philosophy, called the Cholismo philosophy, is based on intensity, team camaraderie, and a pragmatic focus on the present.

The session started with a dynamic warm-up and mobility before moving on to the ball-passing circuit and 1v1 activation drills. The team wraps things up with a tactical game, playing from the back for a structured practice under pressure.

Beyond the on-field sessions, Gimenez also puts in the work inside the gym, often prioritizing quick, explosive movements and his twitch muscles. All this will be put to the test in his upcoming match against Manchester City, scheduled for August 1.

Yet, his appearance hangs in the balance, given the quality of his recovery and whether he can step up on game day. Do you think José María Giménez can return just in time to face Manchester City? Share your thoughts.
