Kevin Levrone appeared on the First Things THRST show on YouTube, discussing the lessons he learned as a bodybuilder.

As part of the conversation, Levrone also explained just how difficult it was to be a bodybuilder in the 1990s.

“When I turned pro, I was 23 years old. I signed a contract with Joe Weider, and under the contract, you have eight guest poses a year. My schedule was already set.”

When Levrone started in 1991, photo shoots were mandatory, no matter how exhausted you were. Levrone also had his commitment with Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazine at the time.

“In order for you to keep your contract, you have to do all of these appearances… You’re under a microscope the whole time you’re a pro.”

At that time, contracts required appearances in the Arnold Classic, Mr. Olympia, consistent top finishes, and the European tour. That kind of pressure saw Levrone miss big events in his life.

“I missed probably nine years of my family having family reunions... I was like a soldier… it fit perfectly for me.”

But Kevin Levrone had one thing he always tried to find time for

Going on the road and competing throughout the year, Kevin Levrone found an outlet in music.

"My only outlet was music. So if I didn't have a show, I would not work out." In fact, Levrone made four songs and released them back in 2015.

But he wouldn't just stop there. He created an online training platform and worked in movies, showing his dedication to art outside of bodybuilding.
