Lauryn Bosstick Shares 4 Strength Training Tips for Muscle and Fat Loss

Lauryn Bosstick's fitness journey wasn't always linear. It had its ups and downs. But she experienced one of the biggest dips when she had her first child, gaining over 60 pounds.

Despite consistently hitting the gym, the founder of The Skinny Confidential, a wellness and beauty brand, struggled to see any change.

That's when Bosstick decided to shift strategies. "I was fed up, and I thought, 'You know what? I'm just going to try weightlifting," she told Business Insider. And as per an article published by Gabby Landsverk from Yahoo Life, here are 4 tips from inside the gym that finally moved the needle.

#1: Focus on Strength Training

Many women are turned away from lifting heavy, believing they might start looking huge. Bosstick, however, begs to differ.

She thinks that strength training is for everyone. That helps the composition of the body get better.

While helping build lean muscle, it is also an effective method of burning fat. Bosstick suggests progressive overload by gradually increasing weights over time to see real change.

#2: Stay Consistent

"It's a non-negotiable to work out, even when I'm traveling," Bosstick shared, showcasing her dedication to her body.

While she usually opts for an hour-long workout, the Skinny Confidential founder advocates for daily, consistent workouts over volume training.

Even 15 minutes every day helps accumulate real results over time.

#3: Foster Healthy Metabolism With Low-Impact Exercise

One of the most essential functions that helps burn fat is metabolism. And it doesn't always need heavy, breathtakingly intense workouts to activate. Most times, it's all about getting your heart rate just high enough to sweat.

For Bosstick, this doesn't have to be complicated, often resorting to daily walks while multitasking.

"I have to be very intentional, and I can't just walk for 10,000 steps without getting something done," she added.

#4: Aim For Longevity

Bosstick doesn't just prioritize her physique today. To her, the most important metric is her long-term health.

"Longevity is incredibly important to me. I think the mobility and the stability are just as important as the strength," she shared. As we get older, such movements help foster strong joints and reduce injuries.

One of Bosstick's favorite exercises is barbell squats, which help with core stability and knee and hamstring flexibility.

At the center of Bosstick's fitness game plan is a body that performs over a physique that just looks good on paper. Would you give these tips a try?
