Lee Priest Opens Up on Health Concerns and Longevity Post Several Years of Bodybuilding Retirement

Lee Priest wants to live till he is 100.

After decades in bodybuilding, Priest’s priorities have shifted. The former Mr. Universe spoke to Ben Pakulski, the Canadian Bodybuilder, about focusing on health and longevity.

When asked about his views on health and longevity, the former Mr. Universe revealed that he aims to make it big in life, health-wise as well.

"I always said, I'm going to 100. Why do I want to get to 100? It's just a number in my head. My grandfather passed away from malpractice, and he was in his 80s and still training. He passed away last year at 99. My mom now, she's 74 and still looks young. We got longevity."

However, Priest did say that years of bodybuilding might have shaved a few years off his life.

"A bit of s***** use… maybe I cut a bit of years off, who knows? It's funny when you're young, when you're 20s, I don't care when I die, I don't give a shit, then you get to 30, I want to get to 40, I get 40, 1 want 50, I'm 50, now I want to get to 60 and to 70. It's funny how it changes like that."

The 54-year-old has never officially retired from the sport, as he renewed his IFBB professional card in 2025. However, he has stated that he will not be competing due to chest atrophy.

While his bodybuilding career was cut short, it wasn’t because of steroids, but rather due to something else.

Lee Priest Blames Fast Food for Doing More Damage

“I’d die more from off-season McDonald’s than [s********],” he shared in a YouTube Video last year. “I’d probably done more damage with the chemicals in McDonald’s than what I injected into my body.”

Lee Priest was a big McDonald’s guy, and at one point, he used to chug two or three burgers at once. However, he believes that fast food did more damage to his body than any injection he ever took.

Given that, what are your thoughts on his confession? State your opinion in the comments below.
