Lee Priest Reacts to Getting Hailed by Kevin Levrone for Possessing One of the Greatest Bodybuilding Physiques
Getting appreciated by the 2x Arnold Classic winner, Kevin Levrone, is certainly a matter of pride for most bodybuilders. And after Lee Priest experienced this, he didn't shy away from expressing how ecstatic he felt.
Levrone appeared on a recent episode of the Muscle Discord podcast, where the host, Matthew Tsinkorang, posed him a difficult question. Tsinkorang asked Levrone who he thinks has the best physique in the history of the sport. The 61-year-old failed to name a single athlete but included Priest in his list of honorable mentions, calling his physique "one of a kind."
To express his elation, Priest shared an Instagram post on June 15 featuring the section of the podcast where Levrone lauded him. Its caption narrated more about his pleasure, as he penned, "Thank you for the mention, my brother @kevinlevrone on @musclediscord. When Kevin says I’m one of a kind that means Lee Lee is just plain nuts. I'm crazy lol. Hey, but I do make people laugh."
Well, a look at Priest's career speaks volumes about why Levrone elected his physique as one of the best in the history of the sport.
Much like the bodybuilding and Hollywood icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Priest also started competing actively from his teenage years. As a result, he earned his IFBB Pro card at just 20 years of age, which is indeed a rare feat.
After turning pro in 1993, the Australian bodybuilder rose to prominence rapidly with his commendably symmetric frame. Priest also impressed judges with his dense muscularity and incredible proportions, which led him to five top-10 finishes in the coveted Mr. Olympia and two top-five finishes in the Arnold Classic.
So, the reason behind Levrone's appreciation for Priest is apparent. However, the 61-year-old is far from being the only noted name in the sport who has lauded the Australian.
Jay Cutler rates the 21-year-old Lee Priest's physique as unmatchably mind-blowing
Despite never winning Mr. Olympia or the Arnold Classic, Priest has earned victories in multiple other touted contests, like the 2006 IFBB Ironman Pro, the 2002 San Francisco IFBB Pro Invitational, and the 2005 IFBB Grand Prix Australia.
And his feats caused the 4x Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler, to call him incomparable to anyone else. Levrone may have placed Priest with a few others, like Lou Ferrigno and Shawn Ray, but Cutler lauded him with a heavier title.
He said, "I got to mingle with a lot of the top pros. Lee Priest was just coming on the scene at that time. I know you guys kind of had this little rivalry because who’s better… dude, he was unbelievable. No lie. I’ve seen Ronnie Coleman; I’ve obviously competed with him. Nobody can ever blow your mind like Lee Priest looked when he was 21 years old."
The 52-year-old described his bewilderment at Priest's physique, saying, "I walked into the gym, and I remember looking at him and saying, ‘How is that even possible?’ He could barely walk, his legs were so big. I think he downsized as his career went on, but he was massive.”
Well, lots of fans also might have similar thoughts once they watch the snaps of Priest's prime physique.
So, with legends like Cutler and Levrone naming Priest's physique as arguably the best, would you also like to join their club?
