Lenny Kravitz’s Vegan Diet Gets Criticized by Fitness Expert & Fans
The ‘vegan vs. meat-eater’ debate has been around for ages. A recent video on Instagram posted by Dr. Mike Israetel touches upon the topic of building six-pack abs on a vegan diet, with reference to the famous singer, Lenny Kravitz.
In the video shared on May 30, Israetel criticized how a vegan diet is not the secret behind the singer maintaining a ripped physique and abs.
"Lenny Kravitz has had a six-pack his entire life, as far as I can tell," the expert argued. "So if you look at these videos, and you're like, 'He's got a six-pack because of the vegan, raw, low-sugar diet.' That's categorically not possible because he already had abs before."
In a report by Vegan Food and Living back in 2021, it reported that Kravitz had been vegetarian for some 15 years before switching to a mostly raw vegan diet. It means the early 2000s.
In the Instagram video, Israetel plays a short clip where Kravitz talks about following a vegan diet. To further strengthen his point that the singer had a shredded look even before following the diet, he attached Kravitz's picture from the 1990s. Abs are also visible in those photos.
“Is him eating incredibly healthy with incredibly controlled calories, which the vegan raw food low-sugar diet almost necessitates, is that contributing to his ability to maintain his abs?” he asks, “You bet!”
However, he goes on to tell viewers that they don’t necessarily need to follow a vegan, low-sugar diet to get abs. The focus should rather be on getting adequate protein and maintaining a proper calorie count.
Fans were quick to comment on the video, sharing their personal views and opinions on the same.
Fans React to Lenny Kravitz’s Vegan Diet Contribution to His Six-Pack Abs
For most people, the ‘plant-based vs meat’ diet remains a major topic of discussion, where both sides have their pros and cons. The recent video sparked reactions from fans, with many responding critically to Kravitz’s opinion.
One viewer said, “I’m good, that diet, no thank you.” Going by the research, vegan diets lead to potential nutrient deficiencies.
Another comment stated, “How about we talk about prioritizing your gut health before protein? How good is an inflamed GI tract at utilizing nutrients than one that has a diverse and healthy gut microbiome?” The sudden spike in fiber can trigger digestive distress.
One commentator went straight to the point, saying, “Today I almost had vegan ox tail, went straight for the chicken.” These comments clearly indicate how most people feel about vegan diets.
Another fan stressed on how genetics played a role. "Six packs can also be genetics. I know from some close to a Hollywood star, that said Hollywood star eats whatever he wants, barely workout; and has a six pack," the comment read.
As reported by Healthline, the familiar six-pack appearance comes from horizontal bands of connective tissue that segment the rectus abdominis muscle. These bands are genetically determined
