Lewis Hamilton’s Full Body Workout at 41: Internet Labels Him ‘GOAT’

At 41, the internet has crowned Lewis Hamilton the 'GOAT' but this time for his powerhouse full-body workout.
With the new Formula 1 season in full swing, Lululemon had a chance to sit with its brand ambassador and 7-time Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton to learn how he conditions his body for the grueling year-long race calendar.
During his interview, he was asked to choose between different routines, and his answers gave an insight into how he shapes his physique:
- Bench press or pec deck - Bench press
- Mobility in the morning or at night - In the morning
- Cold plunge or sauna - Cold plunge
- Tarp on or tarp off. - Tarp on
At 41, the F1 legend has adjusted his training routine, choosing longevity and recovery over immediate performance. Talking about his training routine, Hamilton said, " Finding the right mixture between what you eat, the sleep, and the actual activities you do is one of the hardest things to get right. That’s something I’m searching for all the time."
That's why his workout routine includes:
- 8-10 miles running
- Stretching
- HIIT training
- Pilates
- Yoga
- Meditation
- Breath work
- Resistance training
- Neck training
In his early years, he paid little attention to recovery, but now it has become a key part of his routine. After training hard, he makes sure to do ice baths, even if he has to force himself to do so. He also believes in positive affirmations, stating, "When you speak positively about yourself, your body reacts to that."
What's Lewis Hamilton's diet like?
In 2017, the British racing champion switched to a plant-based diet and has been following it ever since. Speaking to Business Insider, Hamilton revealed his entire diet plan, so let's take a look.
Breakfast
- Porridges
- Beans on toast (occasionally)
Before becoming a vegan, Lewis enjoyed eggs with avocado on toast.
Lunch
- Falafel sandwiches
- Vegan chili
- Quinoa power bowl
Before 2017, his go-to lunch items would be chicken breast, tomato salsa, veggies, and a glass of water.
Dinner
- Tofu garlic stir-fry
- Vegetables
- Wholegrain rice
- Fresh coffee (or green tea)
- A few pieces of 85% dark chocolate
Lewis also remembers to hydrate himself throughout the day with water and sometimes energy drinks. The plant-based diet has made him quit a few things he loved.
"It's not for everyone. I miss Nutella. I miss sweets, but now I know what's in that stuff, it's gross." But one thing he hasn't been able to quit is his love for pancakes. He also loved to eat burgers, but couldn't find a tasty plant-based option anywhere, until he found a place in Hong Kong.
