“Liked To Stay Within California”- Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Son Reveals Family’s Travelling Habits

With Arnold Schwarzenegger as a father, international travel came naturally.

That being said, his son recently pulled back the curtain on a surprising family rule, one that saw the former governor favor California over the rest of the world.

While the family loved to travel, that wasn’t quite the case for their father, Arnold, who preferred staying close to home in California. “My dad liked to stay within California. He felt that it had everything to offer, from beaches to skiing to mountains to desert.”

Patrick Schwarzenegger recently sat down with Travel & Leisure to discuss his love for travel.

During the conversation, the White Lotus star revealed that constant family trips were part of his upbringing, “Then when he became governor, we would travel to Sacramento to visit him and do whitewater rafting trips and visit parts of the desert.”

But that wasn’t the case for Patrick. The upcoming Love of Your Life star revealed that he used to travel around the world with the Special Olympics, which was founded by his grandmother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

“One of my earliest memories was going out to South Africa for the Special Olympics,” said Patrick. He also went to China, Greece, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, often to volunteer at World Games. “Those were great traveling experiences.”

Well, despite traveling all around the world, Patrick Schwarzenegger still loves his hometown.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's son Loves His Hometown

Another special place that is a bit too dear to him is his hometown, Idaho. Not only did he grow up in the state, but he continues to spend most of his summers there.

Recently, he was in Idaho with his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, at the Sun Valley Film Festival, where Arnold received the Vision Award while he was honored as a Rising Star.

“It’s a nice breath of fresh, clean air with just mountains, lakes, and rivers,” he said. “It’s God's country, just a totally different vibe. And we love it out there.”

With that aside, he is now planning a honeymoon trip to either Bora Bora or the Maldives.
