Lindsey Vonn Uses Cane as She Begins Walking During Recovery Process

From her first public appearances after the accident to the Met Gala 2026, the alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn has given a strong signal that she is recovering rapidly.

On May 5, Lindsey Vonn shared a post on her Instagram, captioning it “Practicing my Met walk!!! @thombrowne for the win with the custom cane!! 💃🏼 L**!!!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻.” In the video, she was seen wearing a white bathrobe and walking with a cane.

She was practicing her walk for the Met Gala 2026.

Again, on May 05, the athlete shared a carousel of photos from the event on her social media. The post reads, “From a wheelchair 3 months ago to the Met Gala. Slowly, I have made my way back. Thank you, @thombrowne, for making me feel like a princess. It was truly a magical night.”

The post continues, “Thom and Andrew, I love you ❤️🙏🏻. Congratulations to you both on a spectacular night and exhibit!

And thank you to the most amazing team and friends. You’re the best, and I couldn’t do it without you!”

However, post-surgery, this is not her first public appearance. She has recently been seen with CBS Mornings host Gayle King and Nathaniel Eugene Burleson. CBS Mornings shared the post on its Instagram on April 30.

The post reads, “I’m still focused on the physical healing, and I haven’t even really got to the mental healing”: After a brutal crash at the Olympics that nearly caused her to lose her leg, @lindseyvonn is on the path to recovery.”

The post continues, “Vonn, one of the greatest skiers of all time, shares about where she is in her recovery journey and what’s next in her career: You’ll see me skiing one way or another.”

Though Vonn is still in her recovery phase, she is pushing herself hard in the gym.

On March 6, she posted a video on her social media, in which the Olympic gold medalist was seen exercising, including:

  • Dumbbell overhead press in seated position
  • Medicine ball jackknife
  • Machine leg extension
  • Russian twist with medicine ball
  • Massage therapy
  • Electrical muscle simulation therapy

Apart from this, on March 13, she shared another video on her Instagram, captioning “Guys… I’m biking!! Starting with 5 minutes… making progress one day at a time 💪🏻,” in which she was riding a stationary bike.

So, her hard work in the gym and dedication are the two main factors in her faster recovery. Vonn is balancing gym work and rest perfectly, which is quietly working in her favor as she walks again freely.
