Mark Wahlberg Trains with Jesse James West in 4 AM Club Workout

At 53, Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg proved to the world why he’s so famous for his 4 AM workouts. In this short clip posted on Wahlberg’s official Instagram, he is seen training with fitness creator Jesse James West in a brutal workout session.

The duo can be seen pushing through intense lifts, cardio sessions, split squats, core-focused movements, and more. Viewers get a glimpse into Wahlberg’s signature “no-excuses” training style, which has West groaning and screaming in pain for the most part. We now know the secret behind Wahlberg’s Hollywood physique- dedication and discipline.

“This is all you got, Mark?” West says at the beginning of the session. Hilariously, it doesn’t take long for him to say, “Oh, it gets harder? Holy c***!” as he pushes through each drill. Although the session looks excruciating, we have to applaud the fact that he got through the entire thing.

The video begins showing James taking an ice water bath, a trend that has become increasingly popular on social media. The icy baths help reduce muscle soreness and help with a mental boost and alertness. West probably needed the ice plunge shock therapy to wake himself up for the 4 am session!

After Wahlberg completes a series of brutal leg workouts with apparent ease, West is left speechless. “I don’t know how his legs are not shaking!” he says with a shake of his head.

What makes the training session even harder is the fact that it is happening at 4 am. West reflects, “It feels like I’m in a daydream,” and we can’t help but imagine how intense the session must be.

Mark Wahlberg and Jesse James West Take Recovery Seriously

Wahlberg and West both take recovery very seriously, especially after intense workouts like these.

Their post-workout recovery routine includes ice baths, prioritizing sleep, hydration, nutrition, and stretching.

However, Wahlberg admits that he often feels the temptation to sleep in, telling People magazine how the early morning workouts can be grueling. “I feel it more often than you think,” he says, referring to the desire to just stay in bed.

Brian Nguyen, Wahlberg’s trainer, tells Men’s Fitness about the importance of replenishing after a solid workout. “Because you just expended all this sugar, all this glycogen storage, and all this protein in your own body,” Nguyen explains.

“If you don’t replenish it immediately, your body will feel that depletion and a sense of soreness, fatigue, or even nausea. Nutrition is 90 percent of the work. Whether that’s a shake, whether that’s a sensible meal, that’s part of the process.”

Wahlberg and West’s physiques and fitness levels are enough proof in themselves that we should take their post-workout recovery advice seriously.

Although West pushes the “tap out” button at the end of the clip, he does in fact complete the session- not without complaints, though!
