Martyn Ford Leg Presses Above 1500lbs as Internet Reacts
Martyn Ford is a specimen standing at 6’8”, with a massive muscular frame as well. Recently, the British bodybuilder and actor shocked the fitness community with a new video of leg presses.
“700 KG leg press …. Now it’s starting to get interesting …. Time to lock in, stay focused and KNOCK on some doors …. BIG leg session today, back home now, rest …. Recover, and then back to the gym for more PAIN …,” the caption of the video Ford shared on Instagram on June 22 stated.
In the video, he was seen effortlessly doing leg press with more than 1500 lbs of weight. Ford performed a total of 10 reps of the exercise in the footage.
This isn’t his first time; the actor of Kingsman: The Golden Circle showcased his leg strength online. On June 1, he shared another video on his social media.
In the video, he was seen on a plate-loaded leg press machine doing leg press exercises. Though people usually skip leg day, Ford enjoys it and performed 100 reps in total (10 reps x 10 sets).
According to Generation Iron, on a typical leg training day, he performs a variety of exercises, including:
- Hack squat
- Hamstring curls
- Leg extension
- Seated calf raise
- Leg press
So, when Ford's showroom fans showed their massive strength, they did not stop them from reacting.
Fans react to Martyn Ford’s leg press
The 6’8” bodybuilder, Ford, again proved why he is known as one of the strongest in bodybuilding. Fans were shocked and started praising him for his strength.
One fan said, "awesome work brother👏”.
And there is no doubt that Ford has done awesome work. There are very few bodybuilders who have made history by leg-pressing over 1,500 lbs. Some notable names include Ronnie Coleman, who leg-pressed 2,300 lbs, as shown in his 2003 training documentary. Other names include Dorian Yates and Branch Warren.
Another fan said, “My gym ain't got 700kg plates in total”.
Many commercial gyms try to avoid stocking more than 1000 lbs to 1500 lbs plates to limit liability, floor damage, and safeguard members from monopolizing plates. Only legendary strongmen, bodybuilders, and powerlifters focus on such heavy weights.
Another said, “With no knee support either. Now that is impressive”.
Lifting or leg pressing such a heavy weight without any knee support can be dangerous. However, by attempting this and successfully handling the weight, Ford showed not only his strength but also his hold on the equipment.
Another fan praised Ford exceptionally. He said, "Precisely 10 times the weight that Sajad Gharebi has put on it".
This fan is talking about a famous Iranian internet personality and aspiring MMA fighter, also known as the Iranian Hulk. His weight stands between 265 lbs and 390 lbs, and it depends on Gharibi's competition status and training routine.
This comment also throws shade on Gharibi, who was supposed to fight Martyn, but the fight was cancelled over concerns about Gharibi's health.
Last but not least, another fan said, "That was a perfect one 👏👏👏💪."
And no one can deny that. The way Ford used the more than 1500 lbs weight for his leg press without shaking and any hesitation, it only deserves one simple compliment: "perfect".
Ford’s leg press video reached more than 12k heart reactions and is still counting, but his fans and the fitness community are totally astonished by his raw power and grit.
