Mike O’Hearn Relives Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Uncanny Bodybuilding Advice- “Up the Dosage”
Mike O'Hearn, the fitness influencer and bodybuilder, often shares bodybuilding advice on his social media platforms, including advice from Arnold Schwarzenegger.
On June 1, O’Hearn again shared advice on his Instagram, saying, “Change the diet and up the dosage.”
This viral statement from the 7-time Mr. Olympia stems from Gold's Gym. While hanging out or filming at the gym, a young bodybuilder, having dropped his weight from 280 lbs to 260 lbs, asked the Austrian Oak for advice on building a good physique.
And Schwarzenegger, being experienced and humorous, simply said, “Change the diet and up the dosage.”
It quickly created a funny moment in the gym, and O'Hearn, along with onlookers, started laughing out loud. The 57-year-old bodybuilder instantly declared that Schwarzenegger’s statement was legendary enough to be stitched onto a gym T-shirt.
While the statement, specifically the dosage remark, was definitely delivered with a funny tone, O'Hearn often relived the high-utility bodybuilding philosophies he learned from the Austrian Oak.
Other Golden Era Advice From Arnold Schwarzenegger to Mike O’Hearn
There are many pieces of advice that Schwarzenegger gave to O'Hearn, but one vital philosophy that O'Hearn imparts to his son comes from Schwarzenegger’s book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life.

When the book was released in 2023, O’Hearn posted an Instagram video in which he read the book in a superhero costume alongside his son, Titan O’Hearn.
O’Hearn said, “Be useful. Teaching my son at a young age the importance of being useful. Thank you for the incredible gift @schwarzenegger.”
Apart from that, Schwarzenegger also once suggested to O'Hearn that he train his calves 5 days a week, doing only one intense workout with 5 sets and 20 reps.
So, on his YouTube channel, O’Hearn shared a short reel on January 27, 2025, where he said,
“I got a trick from Arnold. Arnold gave me a piece of advice, and he talked about when he didn't have calves, what he did to stimulate them to grow.
So you gotta figure the calves are so different than the rest of the body. They're such a dense, dense muscle. So they don't just, like, biceps you train maybe once or twice a week, and they'll grow in maybe six sets, nine sets. He said, five days a week, one exercise each day, five sets of 20. And as heavy as you possibly can.”
