Mike O’Hearn Says Vince McMahon Once Wanted Him in WWE

The face of over 500 magazine covers, Mike O'Hearn once almost stepped inside the WWE wrestling ring. While that never got to see the light of day, the bodybuilder has a scoop to share about the showbiz BTS.

In a recent May 13 episode of the Ariel Helwani Show, the 'Titan' joined for a candid conversation on his bodybuilding career and the interesting twists that journey took him to. In fact, as O'Hearn shared with Helwani, his character almost went to the whiteboard in the WWE headquarters in Connecticut.

"Shane McMahon flew me out and goes, 'We want you for wrestling. We want you, WWE," he revealed.

Propped up by his massive success and charisma in the American Gladiators TV show and his chiseled physique, former wrestling promoter Vince McMahon was intent on featuring the athlete on the show.

The conversations only clinched onto that opportunity further. 'We talked about character and development and everything. And then he says, " This is it. We're doing this," O'Hearn explained.

However, the Titans' contract with the American Gladiators dimmed the negotiations, and the deal was ultimately discarded.

But the opportunity didn't really fizzle out; it came knocking back at his door 7 years later.

Mike O'Hearn lifts the curtain on his experience working with WCW

The WWE conflicted with O'Hearn's schedule in more ways than one. While the gladiators TV show was only a piece of the puzzle, his bodybuilding and powerlifting season were what actually moved the needle. Or rather, seized it.

7 years later, and O'Hearn is back in the WWE crosshairs. However, what might have been McMahon's best recruit was turned lopsided with the athlete then working with Battle Dome.

While this time too was sabotaged, the athlete did finally end up working with World Championship Wrestling (WCW), later acquired by WWE, in a crossover with Battle Dome.

"We went over there and bashed against those guys. Goldberg. Ric Flair. Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan. So it was great to get in the ring with those guys and play around," the athlete shared his experience.

This remains an exceptional memento in O'Hearn's career, otherwise illustrated with bodybuilding titles. But, in another reality, if O'Hearn had signed that contract with WWE, would you have tuned into those episodes? Let us know in the comments below.
