A recent training clip has put the spotlight on Mike Tyson.

A clip floating on Instagram showed the boxing champ working a heavy punching bag alongside kids and amateur fighters during a public session at the Mike Tyson Invitational.

The event was a multi-day amateur boxing showcase organized in Las Vegas.

The event invited young fighters and boxing prospects, intending to give them early exposure and structured competition. In the video, Tyson was seen holding the heavy bag while each young participant took turns showing their hitting skills.

He didn't just assist with the bag; he also interacted with them directly, offering guidance and encouragement to each one of them. The environment appeared relaxed, like an open workout session rather than a closed training camp.

Ahead of his much-anticipated fight with Floyd Mayweather on April 25, Mike Tyson has launched the Mike Tyson Invitational, an amateur boxing showcase held in Las Vegas on March 12, 13, and 14, 2026.

It was a three-day, invite-only event organized to promote amateur boxing talents. The event was nothing like traditional boxing events that follow a bracket format. Instead, here the fighters were selected based on their weight, skill, and experience.

What happened at the Mike Tyson Invitational?

The event held individual bouts that resembled professional matchups. Boxers of every age and skill level participated. From young boxers to more advanced amateur prospects, the platform allowed them to compete in a bigger and more organized setting.

The inaugural edition hosted 52 amateur fighters from across the country, competing in 26 fights. The youngest participant was nine years old, and the oldest was 24. There were no entry fees and no pay-to-play structure. Mike Tyson funded the entire event himself, covering hotel and meal expenses for fighters and trainers.

The three-day event was broadcast live on DAZN, CSI Fight Sports, and Swerve.tv. Women’s fights were streamed separately on the All Women’s Sports Network.

In addition to the fights, athletes were exposed to open workout sessions, media interactions, and direct guidance from Tyson himself, as seen in the clip mentioned above. The clip was proof that Tyson was more than just a host.

Tyson’s aim for launching this initiative was to expose aspiring boxers to the best opportunities for boxing in the United States and promote amateur boxing.
