Movsar Evloev reveals brutal 1,000 pushups-per-hour routine

Movsar Evloev has a perfect (20-0) unbeaten MMA record, not because of judges favoring him but due to his brutal training regimen. It includes hitting up to 1000 push-ups in an hour to build endurance.
A glimpse of that endurance recently resurfaced when ESPN MMA shared a post on its Instagram on March 19, with the caption “When Movsar Evloev revealed that he would do over 1,000 pushups in an hour every week during training in 2020 🤯.”
The post also revealed a statement of the Russian UFC star, which reads, “I do it in exactly one hour. It’s part of my weekly training. The method comes from [ boxer] Kostya Tszyu; it originally required 1,000 push-ups in one session. But I’ve done it so often, I pushed it to 1,500”.
In addition, during his appearance on the December 4, 2020, episode of the Ushatayka podcast, the 32-year-old star also discussed his intermediate break routine. He said, “The only ‘breaks’ I get are when I’m jumping rope. One hour. 1,500 push-ups. And a ton of time on the rope.” This means 25 pushups per minute.
Born in Sunzha, Ingushetia, Russia, in 1994, Evloev started wrestling at age 15 and had become an MMA pro contender by 2014. Before competing in the UFC, Evloev dominated the M-1 Global Bantamweight championship, and in 2019, he joined the UFC.
While Evloev has pulled out of multiple fights in his UFC career, he has never lost a match. His disciplined training routine and practice sessions have helped him rise his ranks in the UFC's featherweight division.
This discipline was crucial in his latest victory at UFC Fight Night London.
Movsar Evloev’s latest match with Lerone Murphy
On March 21, a match was hosted at the O2 Arena in London, England. According to UFC, Lerone Murphy started the match with good counterability and footwork in the first two rounds. But the undefeated Russian placed his dominance over Murphy.
Murphy's defeat gave Evloev a chance to fight against the champion Alexander Volkanovski. For the Ingush professional mixed martial artist, this was his 10th straight UFC win.
However, the win was not hurdle-free for the champion. During an interview before the match with UFC.com’s McKenzie Pavacich last Wednesday, Evloev admitted that he faced issues with a visa.
He added, "It’s the toughest situation in my career right now.... I have a lot of work to do myself, going to the embassy or application center, from one place to the other, doing hard training sessions, cutting weight. It was tough, but I can handle it”.
However, it is the gym and training that help him keep going.
He admitted, “The one thing that made me get through all that... was the fact that I actually love being in training.
I love coming back to the gym, I love learning new things, so no matter what kind of setback, what kind of stuff I had to go through, the biggest thing was that I’m a student of the game and I love coming back, learning more”.
So, Evloev would train even harder, given he is likely to face featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski next.
