NBA Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Undergoes Intense Workout Involving Boxing Drills
Giannis Antetokounmpo has decided to enhance his fitness and take his athletic power to another level by adding some intense workout movements, including boxing.
On April 24, Antetokounmpo gave a glimpse of the session on his Instagram, sharing a montage of images with the caption “💯”.
In the post, the NBA star was seen doing exercises like boxing and resistance-band bear crawl.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Mike Atkinson, the head of strength and conditioning for the Westchester Knicks, said, “boxing provides an intense anaerobic workout similar to the physiological demands placed on basketball players but with minimal impact to the lower body compared to running.”
And like all the other NBA stars, Antetokounmpo knows that. This is not the first time he has been seen adding boxing to his workout routine.
On July 25, 2025, Courtside Buzz revealed in an Instagram post that the NBA star, along with his wife Mariah, was boxing together.
The practice of incorporating boxing into his offseason training was evident in 2018 as well. That was the first time he began his boxing lessons, with the aim of “try something different.”
While he has been boxing for a while now, there are other workout routines that he mostly follows to stay fit.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Daily Workout and Diet Routine
Antetokounmpo entered the NBA in 2013 after being drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks. Since then, through consistent hard work, he has become one of the most unstoppable and versatile players in the league.
According to RoutineBase, his daily regimen is built on a foundation of consistency, typically starting at 6:30 AM. A core component of his training is "blood flow restriction" (BFR) workouts, which allow him to simulate heavy weightlifting and achieve a high-intensity "pump" while minimizing the actual load on his joints.
His routine targets total-body versatility through common movements like rows and pull-ups for the upper body, alongside heavy squats and deadlifts to maintain his explosive lower-body power.
To fuel this elite performance, Antetokounmpo adheres to a protein-heavy diet centered on steak, fish, and grilled chicken. While his workouts change to meet the demands of the season, his focus remains on functional strength and rapid recovery, ensuring he remains one of the league’s most unstoppable forces.
