NFL Star Baker Mayfield Squats 495 Lbs in Intense Offseason Grind

Apr 8, 2026, 5:10 PM CUT

Baker Mayfield is already sending a message ahead of the 2026 season. The Buccaneers QB was featured in a viral video squatting an impressive 495 pounds. This intense workout is part of a larger offseason grind for the veteran quarterback.

On April 7, the NFL on FOX dropped a post on its Instagram captioning, “The @buccaneers QB getting that offseason work in 😤”

In the video, Mayfield was seen pushing himself to the limits while squatting with 495 pounds.

The NFL also shared the same video on their official Instagram, and on that post, the team Tampa Bay Buccaneers commented: “That’s our QB.”

Although he is putting in effort in the gym, he is also enjoying his offseason.

On April 3, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers shared a carousel of pictures and videos on Instagram captioning, “What the guys have been up to 🙌” In the post, the Tampa Bay players were seen participating in several activities. Mayfield was also seen performing at Zach Bryan’s concert along with his wife.

Besides that, on March 25, the PGA TOUR posted another update, captioning “More of this duo please.” The Heisman Trophy winner was seen playing golf with 2015 Masters Tournament champion Jordan Spieth. That probably boosted his cardiovascular health and cognitive functions.

During the golf session, Spieth asked if he had begun practicing for the game. The American football player replied, “I'll start probably next week, maybe once, twice a week.” Additionally, Mayfield also shared his current training routine.

When the 2015 FedEx Cup champion asked, “What does the day look like, right now for you? Just train?” the footballer revealed his daily routine, which includes:

  • Working out at 10 AM
  • Yoga on Wednesday
  • Being a Dad is also a part of his daily routine

The footballer is balancing everything perfectly—working out, enjoying the offseason, being a dad, and gearing up for the 2026 season after battling shoulder and knee injuries in 2025.

This grind feels familiar because it is not the first time Mayfield has had to work hard for his fitness and game.

Baker Mayfield’s Transformation After the 2019 Season

After a tough 2019 season, Baker Mayfield realized he needed to improve himself, as he was slow and out of shape, which ultimately affected his performance. Therefore, he decided to consistently focus on his fitness and diet.

The outcome of Mayfield's hard work was pretty impressive. He reduced his body fat from 18% to 11%, added 4 pounds of muscle, and lost 14 pounds in total.

Mayfield’s training also boosted his overall strength; he increased his push-ups from 25 to 45 reps. This change also enhanced his field performance.

During the 2020 season, he finished in the top 10 in QBR (65.5), sacked only 26 times, down from 40 last season, and threw 8 interceptions, while in 2019 it was 21. His hard work and improved fitness led to more efficient and quicker performance in the game.

This highlights the importance of transformation in his life, and once again, he must overcome his flaws to shine in the 2026 season.
