94-year-old woman's fitness hacks to remain healthy and workout-ready

Touching the 90s is usually related to a laid-back life on the couch, dozing off in front of the TV. But it seems someone forgot to give that memo to 94-year-old Edna Giordano, who, despite her age, can put people half her age to shame with her mobility and strength.
A few days ago, fitness influencer Dalyce Radtke shared a video highlighting why balance in old age matters, saying, “I’m 62, my mom is 94. Here's a real question for you. What are you doing now to lower your chances of falling later? Most falls aren't random. They usually come down to weak legs and poor balance.”
Dalyce noted that both leg strength and balance can be trained, pointing out how her mom, even in her 90s, still sticks to regular exercise. “My mom has been doing simple strength exercises for decades. Nothing fancy, just consistent. That's a big reason she's still steady on her feet at 94.”
And her statement holds. A 2016 meta-study analyzing 99 comparisons from 88 trials involving 19,478 participants found that, “Exercise as a single intervention can prevent falls in community-dwelling older people.”
The study highlights that exercise programs that challenge balance have greater effects on improving balance.
But is that all? Giordano has other methods to maintain her balance as well.
Think 90 means slow? Edna Giordano’s workout routine says otherwise
Through her and her daughter’s social media, Edna shares what she does on a daily basis to maintain her mobility—and the secret is simple: just keep moving. In one of her posts, she highlighted how she keeps her shoulders active through functional yoga.
“ Limited shoulder mobility can hinder daily activities like dressing, grooming, and reaching for items, potentially compromising our ability to live independently,” Dalyce highlights in her post.
In addition to that, the mother-daughter duo shared on social media that they focus on floor stretches, light core exercises, upper-body strength and posture work, along with sit-to-stand exercises.
