Paul Sklar Powers Through a Heavy Squat With Wife by His Side

Paul Sklar hasn't given up on maintaining a jacked physique despite being 54 currently. And he is appreciably supported by his wife, as one of his June 2026 videos displayed.

Sklar maintained his habit of sharing his fitness journey with his followers by uploading yet another video to his Instagram account on June 28. But while he is seen working out alone in most, this one also featured his wife, Sandy Sklar, who is a fitness trainer herself.

The video displayed Sandy helping Paul with the rising part of his 235 lbs weighted squat. But despite the assistance, the caption of the post presented Paul's hilarious description of the instance. It read, "When your wife can’t keep her hands off of you😂🤣😳."

While Paul and Sandy hardly appear in each other's social media posts, the couple's dedication to fitness is commendable. Just like Paul, Sandy also provides her followers with her value-added fitness advice, along with demonstrating the proper techniques of performing her suggested exercises.

On the other hand, age hasn't been able to slow down Paul. The former world-ranked professional run-and-bike athlete has been doing everything that most give up with aging. And as a result, he still boasts a flauntable physique, as can be seen in his social media updates.

But besides his toned abs, Paul also has commendable muscular shoulders, which come from one of his habits that most quit at his age.

The secret and training regimen behind Paul Sklar's muscular shoulders

The effects of aging cause most 54-year-olds to give up on lifting heavy weights. However, Paul doesn't belong to that club of people, as his aforementioned Instagram video showed him going for a 235 lbs squat.

He also voiced his thoughts about lifting heavy in one of his YouTube videos on March 26.

"People think I stopped lifting heavy. It's just not true. I just changed how I train. And that's where most people get it wrong. In my last video, I said that I've been using lighter weights more often. But that doesn't mean that I stopped lifting heavy. It just means that I'm even more intentional as I get older."

And one of the benefits of Paul's habit is his muscular shoulders. However, they weren't built just by lifting weights. The 54-year-old also disclosed the training regimen for his shoulders in the same video. Here's a look at its specifications:

  • Alternating overhead dumbbell press: 3-4 rounds of 10 reps with minimum rest in between
  • Lateral shoulder raise with dumbbells: 3-4 rounds of 10 reps with minimum rest in between
  • Rear delt band fly: 3-4 rounds of 10 reps with minimum rest in between
  • Kettlebell hang clean: 3-4 rounds of 10 reps with minimum rest in between

So, now that you know how lifting heavy has helped Paul maintain a jacked physique, are you also thinking of lifting heavier till an older age?
