Paul Wight, 54, Aka Big Show, Still Goes Strong in Physical Training

The Big Show was one of the strongest wrestlers in WWE during his prime, and today, years after his retirement, he still manages to maintain that fitness.

On May 2, Paul Wight, a.k.a The Big Show, took to Instagram to show off his powerful physique. In the post, he is seen posing while being drenched in sweat after finishing what seemed like an intense workout.

The secret was revealed in the caption, which read, 'Great sled day! 1hour push/pull. Good steady constructive work.' Debuting in 1999, The Big Show rose to the ranks of WWE and became one of the most recognizable faces in the business.

His 7 ft, 500 lbs stature made him a force to be reckoned with and helped him win multiple titles in his career, including the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship, the ECW Championship, Tag Team Champion, Intercontinental Champion, and the United States Champion.

After 22 glorious years, Show left WWE to become a part of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2021. He has been working behind the camera and as a commentator. But nothing comes close to the physique he had during his prime. And maintaining that physique meant maintaining a humongous 18,000-calorie-a-day diet, which was largely fast food.

Wight once told Men's Health magazine, 'It was a lot of empty bad calories, because I used to just eat whatever I wanted in massive amounts. So I'd probably say somewhere between 13-18,000 calories a day.' Here is a glimpse of what and how much he ate. His typical McDonald's order would be three or four Big Macs, fries, a shake, apple pies, and sometimes a fifth sandwich.

At Taco Bell, nothing under 20 tacos would satisfy him. But after retirement, Wight completely changed his diet. And because he no longer has to maintain his 500-lbs weight, he doesn't need to be a big eater anymore; he now eats like a mouse.

Today, his diet is all about 10 ounces of protein, a small portion of carbs, and maybe some veggies to go with it. So, that's about his diet, but what about his training?

The training routine that helped Paul Wight lose over 100 lbs

Paul Wight decided to reduce his size from 500 lbs to 393 lbs. Speaking about his choice to reduce weight, he said, “It was definitely a conscious decision. You don’t make the transformation I’ve made without a serious commitment to changing 40 years of improper diet and improper training.”

He started working out under Dodd Romero, whose roster of clients includes names like Denzel Washington and baseball legend Alex Rodriguez.

His training focuses on cutting fat and building his metabolism, keeping his tendons and joints strong. Muscle building comes after that.
