Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts’s Diet and Workout Blueprint for Extreme Strength and Speed
Jalen Hurts' unique combination of strength and speed has made him one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the NFL. But his success isn't simply a result of his talent.
What goes on behind the scenes is a disciplined diet and training plan that balances strength training with clean eating, all while still finding time for his favorite comfort foods, including his infamous Popeyes order.
Fuel for Jalen Hurt's NFL greatness
Speaking with Men’s Health, Hurts revealed that he typically kickstarts his day with protein, including eggs and turkey bacon, and fruits. He occasionally adds carbs like toast and potatoes, while keeping his lunch lighter, mainly consisting of salads like a Cobb or a Cesar.
For dinner, he rotates between the “big three,” which include steak, fish, or chicken, and pairs any of them with a lot of veggies. As a snack, he enjoys sunflower seeds.

He also likes to treat himself with occasional cheat meals. He enjoys homemade cookies with a scoop of Blue Bell ice cream, but his favourite go-to food item is Fried chicken, which is “Fresh out of the grease.”
In an interview with GQ, Hurts shared that hot sauce is a staple in his meals. He also spoke fondly of Popeyes, calling it an essential part of his upbringing.
“One of my essentials would’ve been Popeye’s, and it is an essential. I grew up eating a two-piece Tuesday special. Every Tuesday, you could get two pieces of chicken, a drum, and a thigh for 99 cents. Brings back so many childhood memories.”
Hurts has also emphasized drinking plenty of water and lemonade, noting that eating greens, consuming high-quality protein, and staying hydrated all contribute to his performance.
Apart from eating, working out is another essential that helps him stay alert, fast, and strong.
Jalen Hurts’s workout plan
Jalen Hurts, who had once squatted 600 pounds, follows a structured program under his personal trainer, Taylor Kelly.
To strengthen shoulder and build abs, Jalen Hurts prefers doing classic planks for 4 minutes. He also performs push-ups and scapular push-ups, an exercise Kelly has explained "helps quarterbacks to get full extension on their release point.”
Jalen Hurts regularly includes med ball throws for 8-10 reps for 2-3 sets, alongside Barbell bench press in his workout sessions. And all this, along with his grit and consistency, certainly makes him one of the most dominant QBs in the NFL.
