Ric Flair, 77, Avoids Shortcuts in Intense Workout & Remains Consistent Through Sweat & Discipline

Ric Flair may have retired from professional wrestling, but not from an active lifestyle.

The Nature Boy just shared a video montage of himself on Instagram performing different intense workout movements. The video was captioned "No Shortcuts. Just Sweat, Discipline, And Showing Up When It’s Hard- Ready To Work. WOOOOO!"

It featured the former sixteen-time world champion performing workout drills like an intense session with movements like:

  • T-bar Cable Rows
  • Elliptical Cycle
  • Sled Push
  • Battle Rope Finisher

What was astonishing about the routine was that Flair seemed dedicated to his workout routine, even though he is 77 years old. And this isn't the first time he has showcased his strength on Instagram. Just recently, he posted a video of himself in the gym crushing the lat pulldown and asking his followers to count the reps.

Ric Flair is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of WWE because of his achievements and long-lasting impact on the sport. His career lasted for more than 40 years, during which he won sixteen world championships, including eight NWA World Heavyweight Championships, six WCW World Heavyweight Championships, and two WWF Championships.

Known for his charisma and unparalleled performances, Flair was the face of World Championship Wrestling and WWE at one point. During his tenure, he headlined countless major events and inspired generations of wrestlers. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, in 2008 and 2012, a rare occurrence in wrestling history.

Although retired, Flair's love for fitness hasn't stopped. In fact, last September, the former wrestler proved he is in a peak state of fitness and strength when he completed an impressive four-minute plank in a restaurant. The feat shocked the internet, and he received praise from his fans. But what keeps him so fit at this age?

Ric Flair’s Training and Diet Routine

Three years ago, Ric Flair revealed the secrets to his longevity, and everyone should take notes.

“I worked out every day, no matter what. If I got up at 4 in the morning, I’d work out at 5. I never missed it.”

His gym sessions last for about one and a half hours, which includes everything from 500 free squats, pushups, and 30 minutes of cardio, besides the movements shared above.

Flair told Men's Health magazine that when it comes to his diet, it is full of protein and clean carbs. He also mentioned that over the years, his diet has changed considerably.

“I used to live by the rule for every pound of bodyweight, you want to have a gram of protein. That’s hard to do. You’d have to eat 20 chicken breasts, two dozen raw eggs a day in the blender. I ate a lot more carbs than I do now.”

Today, his diet is all about pasta, which he loves, but keeps it in moderation. He also cannot eat any spicy foods.
