The Argentine team is all set for the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal against Switzerland. The upcoming knockout match is scheduled for July 11, 2026. This match would be especially crucial, since the winner would advance to the semifinals, facing the winner of Norway vs. England.

Alongside regular high-intensity training, as per his Instagram post, the Argentine team also focuses on a good-quality diet to nourish their bodies pre-match.

What Rodrigo De Paul eats before big matches

Like most elite football players, De Paul follows a protein-rich diet specially designed for him and his team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

As per the Aspetar Sports Medical Journal, De Paul and his team were recommended to load up on carbohydrates pre-match. This helps increase liver glycogen and muscle stores, allowing for higher speed and sprinting distances.

The journal also recommended that players eat sufficiently before each match, ensuring that they don’t feel hungry or experience lower levels of energy during the match.

This includes sources like pasta, sweet potatoes, whole grains, breads, and rice.

Hydration is of utmost importance; becoming dehydrated quickly during games is very common. As such, opting for water along with high-quality sports drinks before the games is essential. However, it is important to remember to sip fluids throughout the game as well.

As per Gastrovino, the Argentine team shipped over 500kg of beef to Kansas City. This included traditional cuts like asado de tira, matambre, peceto, lomo, vacío, and entraña.

Clearly, the team is not skimping on high-quality protein sources.

De Paul’s disciplined training, combined with a protein-rich, nutritious diet, continues to fuel him for more World Cup wins.
