Ronda Rousey Shares Training Camp Update After 9 Months of Pregnancy
Ronda Rousey is returning to the Octagon for a dream fight against MMA legend Gina Carano on May 16, which will be aired on Netflix. The former champion describes her current training camp as the most joyful experience of her career following the birth of her second daughter.
Just months after giving birth to her younger daughter, Ronda Rousey geared up for the fight with her idol. In an interview with the New York Post Sports, Rousey revealed,
"This has actually been the best training camp I've ever experienced in my entire life, and I think it's been because the priority of the whole camp has been to find joy in the process, and that way it just never felt like a grind."
Ronda Rousey is gearing up for her fight against another MMA legend, Gina Carano, scheduled for May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles (Inglewood), California. The fight will be her return to the octagon after a 10-year hiatus.
Rousey revealed that despite being 9 months pregnant, she was excited to come to the gym in the near future after giving birth to her baby and get in shape. Her training made her fall in love again with martial arts. The training has been such a great experience that she is sad that it will end soon.
She said that since becoming a mom, her priority has been her two kids, and the training camp is the last time that it's all about her.
The best part of her training is that, instead of putting intense pressure on her body, she has enjoyed her training. Her mornings are all about long training sessions, and the rest of the day is just recovery, which means spending time with her girls.
What Does the Future Look Like for Ronda Rousey?
When asked what her plans were after the Gina Carano fight, Rousey made it clear that she has no interest in pursuing MMA further.
"This is one and done. I mean, unless like me and Gina have one of those fights that demands like a trilogy or something like that, but uh, I promised my husband that I'm completely done, and we want to have more kids, and I just can't really take any more detours at this point.
The MMA champion was enjoying her retirement. It was only when her coach, Ricky Lundell, asked her to help him get a black belt in judo that she got interested in training again.
