Ronda Rousey’s Open Workout & Judo Skills Gain Attention Ahead of MMA Return Against Gina Carano

Ronda Rousey retired a decade ago, but her latest workout session makes it look like she never left.

Just one day left, and Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano will face each other in a once-in-a-lifetime bout. One of them looks like she's ready to make history. BBC Sport shared a video of Ronda Rousey at Most Valuable Promotion (MVP)'s open workouts. From the energy she brought, Rousey looked every bit the superstar everyone remembers.

In the video, the former UFC champion was seen drilling with her training partner while putting her elite judo skills on full display. She looked fluid during the grappling exchanges and even appeared as though she was in her prime. Fans also got a brief glimpse of her signature armbar technique.

Besides throwing her training partner to the ground, the 39-year-old also did a pad work session and stretches on stage. Rousey looked flexible, quicker, and ready to put on a great show on May 16.

MVP organized the open workout at the famous Venice Beach in California, and besides Rousey, Gina Carano, Nate Diaz, Francis Ngannou, Mike Perry, Philipe Lins, Junior dos Santos, Salahdine Parnasse, Namo Fazil, Jake Babian, and Adriano Moraes also took the stage, displaying their skills ahead of the historic event.

Netflix Sports recently caught up with her at her training camp, where she was also performing a splendid shoulder throw on her training partner. Talking about her judo skills, she said,

“I have, like, a really unique style of Judo. Gripping and all that, and fighting for position is something that I was the best at in judo ever. They try to get you up so quickly in judo, so I had to be transitioning into my submission already on the way to the ground. Which is why my submissions are so fast. It’s why I work so quickly.”

All this is proof that she is all set to take on Gina Carano tomorrow, but if you still aren't convinced, here is her full training routine that she has been following for 15 months.

Ronda Rousey’s Training Routine for the May 16 Fight

Just a few weeks ago, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) shared a  YouTube video where fans saw what Ronda Rousey had been preparing for all these months.

It was a full view of her training camp in Las Vegas, which also featured her coach, Ricky Lundell, and her entire training staff. The video featured her cardio routine and showed her perfecting her striking and judo-based submission grappling.

Her recovery was a relaxing sauna session with her training partners, followed by the ice bath and the hyperbaric chamber sessions.

When asked about her thoughts on the fight, “This is probably the last time in my life that my body is going to be able to peak like this and be able to meet the peak of my athleticism.”

What are your thiughts on the upcoming fight? Are you Team Rousey or Team Carano?
