Ronnie Coleman Calls Bodybuilding Better Than WWE Wrestling- “Nobody Wanna Lift.”
Wrestling or bodybuilding? This question has divided the community for decades and will likely continue to do so, as both sports have produced their fair share of greats. However, according to Ronnie Coleman, professional bodybuilding is far more competitive than wrestling.
The eight-time Mr. Olympia recently took to his Instagram handle to share a scene from the 2002 cult classic John Q, which featured a reference to him.
Hearing his son utter those words, Archibald’s father asked him, “You are watching too much of that WWE, huh?” To which he replied, “Not wrestling, dad, bodybuilding, there’s a big difference.” The scene then suddenly shifts to a flexing Ronnie Coleman. That’s not all. The 8x Mr. Olympia even took a shot at wrestling.
“Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder but don’t nobody wanna lift no heavy a** weights! Bodybuilding > WWE Wrestling.”
One can argue that WWE and bodybuilding go hand in hand, considering that many WWE stars initially started as bodybuilders, including Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Sting, and Triple H, among others. Interestingly, Ronnie Coleman once even expressed interest in going one-on-one against Hulk Hogan.
Ronnie Coleman vs. Hulk Hogan?
Turns out Hulk Hogan is a huge fan of Ronnie Coleman. How do we know? Back in 2020, the wrestling legend took to his Instagram to showcase his workout regimen. At the time, he also gave a shoutout to Ronnie Coleman’s ability to persevere through countless surgeries.
“Pounding biceps with both torn, both are torn at the forearm insertion, and both are torn at the "Rusev' front delt/bicep insertion, no surgeries because if you didn't wrestle, you didn't get paid, just the way it was,” he said.
Shortly after the video went viral, Ronnie Coleman took to his Instagram handle and nearly copied Hogan’s video, offering his own thoughts on the wrestling legend, “What's up there, Mr. Hulk Hogan? I saw the video that you made. I want to say I appreciate that, coming from a legend like you. I just want you to know that I've always been a big fan.”
He also doubled down on the idea of a wrestling match, “I heard you say that you wanted to do a Geritol match. Well, guess what, I'm ready to accept that challenge any day, anytime, and anywhere. We can do it right here, in my established home gym, where I've got some of the best equipment on Earth.”
The match never really happened; however, it was refreshing to witness two legends respecting each other’s legacy.
