Ronnie Coleman Labels 200 Lbs Dumbbell Press as ‘Peanuts’ While Cherishing Workout From Peak Years

What's 200 lbs for a guy who can deadlift 800 lbs?

Olympia legend Ronnie Coleman recently shared a video on Instagram where he labeled 200 lbs as 'peanuts.' And after watching the guy deadlift 800 lbs, what else can we expect from him?

In the video, the eight-time Mr. Olympia shared a video from his competition days. He is seen dumbbell pressing 200 lbs and performing each rep with full strength and power. It might be impressive for us to be amazed by such a feat, but for Coleman, it 'Ain’t nothin but some 200lb peanuts!!'

Coleman is one of the only two bodybuilders to win the Mr. Olympia a record eight times, tying with another great legend, Lee Haney. But these achievements don't just come to anyone. You need hard work, dedication, and the ability to lift anything but 'lightweight.'

During his prime, Coleman was used to lifting incredible amounts of weight without flinching. It was one of the reasons for his massive size and unmatched conditioning. Even at 62 years old, he was performing the barbell shrug with 735 lbs.

In 2000, the King released a training DVD of himself, called Unbelievable, which showed him preparing for Olympia, five weeks before the competition. In the video, he performs some of his best lifts, including the raw, flat bench press of 495 lbs.

But that's not even the best part of the video. In the same training video, he performed two raw pulls for two reps of an 800 lbs deadlift. And there's more from where that came from.

How Strong Was Ronnie Coleman?

Besides being one of the best bodybuilders, Ronnie Coleman was an impressive powerlifter too.

In his younger days, Coleman competed at the annual Texas Deadlift Classic from 1991 to 1994. His heaviest official pull during that time stood at 330 kilograms (727.5 pounds). He was just 29 years old.

Winning 8 Mr. Olympia titles isn't his only achievement; here is a list of some other incredible ones:

  • He squatted 800 lbs for 2 reps.
  • It is reported that he performed a dumbbell bench press of 200 lbs for 12 reps.
  • He claimed that he once benched 225 lbs for 72 reps.
  • Coleman has performed a leg press of 2,325 lbs for 8 reps.
  • He has performed a T-bar row of around 570 lbs for 9 reps
  • He has performed shrugs with 735 lbs.
  • He performed dumbbell shoulder press for 160-lb.

And it is achievements like these that cemented his legacy forever,
