Ryan Terry Looks Back At His Workout Session With Chris Bumstead & Shares Insights of Olympia Prep

In the world of competitive bodybuilding, friendships are often overshadowed by intense on-stage rivalries. Yet, 3-time Mr. Olympia winner Ryan Terry and 6-time Mr. Olympia winner Chris Bumstead shared an unbreakable bond, often evident during gym sessions.

On June 20, Terry shared an Instagram post showing him posing again with Bumstead at a gym. This time, he also shared some data about his Mr. Olympia prep.

In the post, Terry wrote, “Throwback to a session with Chris Bumstead. I get asked a lot what makes the difference at the top, and honestly, it isn't one thing. It's twenty years of being around people better than me and taking a little from each of them.”

Bumstead and Terry have had a strong friendship for years. Back in March 2024, Bumstead shared an Instagram post from a gym featuring Terry, in which he wrote, “One of the best to ever do it, grateful to call this man a friend.”

But Terry doesn't just work out with Bumstead. “I've been fortunate to train with some of the best to ever do it, and I've never once walked away without learning something. That's the gift of this sport if you stay humble enough to keep your eyes open.

Terry has worked out alongside several bodybuilders, as he did with Bumstead. Ahead of Mr. Olympia last year, Terry worked out alongside Samson Dauda for a super shoulder workout. Similarly, he works out alongside the likes of Mike Sommerfeld, as seen by Terry's posts on Instagram.

This year won't be any different, as Terry chases another Mr. Olympia title after winning in the Men's Physique division last year. With months left for Mr. Olympia, Terry has revealed his diet while preparing for the competition

Ryan Terry's eating habits for Mr. Olympia 2026

Terry has proven that anyone can succeed in life with the right drive. With that drive, Terry is training hard for the 2026 Mr. Olympia competition.

Talking about his diet on his YouTube channel, Terry said, per Fitness Volt, "I eat that religiously every day, even if I’m missing my first meal, I always have it with my second and third meals. It’s just a very high-calorie meal for me, and I can get it in quite easily. I can get my essential fats in, complex carbs, and good bioavailable protein."

"We’re going for 65 grams worth of carbs,” he added. “That’s my rice, again, consistent, monotonous bodybuilding. It’s the same thing day in and day out... There are other things I do add to up the calories. I introduce intra-carbs, pre-carbs, and post-workout carbs. At the minute, I’m around 300 grams, which is mad when you think about it."

Only time will tell how Terry performs on the Olympia stage.
