Ryan Terry Shares Heavy Bag Boxing Workout for Prep Cardio

As Ryan Terry prepares for his 4th consecutive Men's Physique title at this year's Mr. Olympia 2026, which would tie Jeremy Buendia's division record, he is varying his cardio routine, trading the treadmill for a heavy bag.

The British bodybuilder shared a clip a day ago of himself working on boxing combinations on the bag, trying to add variety to his conditioning routine to get rid of the monotony.

Terry was quick to manage expectations in his caption, joking, "Before the form police pipe up, I don't profess to be a boxer by any means… just love hitting a bag for cardio whilst on prep!"

Terry's footwork and movement around the bag do not necessarily look that bad. Except for a few glitches like his guard's position between combos, everything looks efficient—a minor technical wrinkle for a not-so-trained boxer.

Terry, known as 'Mr. Great Britain,' has demonstrated that detail-oriented approach throughout his career, with back-to-back Olympia wins in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

How is Ryan Terry Fueling the Fourth Title Run?

Grinding through training alone is not enough to win Mr. Olympia, and that is well known to Ryan Terry.

Talking about his diet on his YouTube channel, Terry said, per Fitness Volt, "I eat that religiously every day. Even if I'm missing my first meal, I always have it with my second and third meals. It's just a very high-calorie meal for me, and I can get it in quite easily. I can get my essential fats in, complex carbs, and good bioavailable protein."

"We're going for 65 grams worth of carbs," he added. "That's my rice, again, consistent, monotonous bodybuilding. It's the same thing day in and day out… There are other things I do add to up the calories. I introduce intra-carbs, pre-carbs, and post-workout carbs. At the minute, I'm around 300 grams, which is mad when you think about it."

What do you think of Terry trading steady-state cardio for the heavy bag during Olympia prep?
