The 4-time Miss Olympia, Sarah Villegas, recently responded to critics on the PMMA controversy.

The Women’s Physique world has been abuzz after the 2025 Olympia battle between Natalia Coelho and Sarah Villegas. After losing the place, Villegas accused Natalia of using PMMA, a permanent synthetic filler, to enhance her physique. Villegas also called her an “OIL-ympia.”

Well-known bodybuilding experts such as “Shawn Ray” and “Bob Cicherillo” said that Sarah runs a “smear campaign” and called PMMA technically cheating.

Now, Villegas fired back at the critics, denying the accusations against her. 5 days back, she posted on her Instagram and wrote, “For the record – Statements have been made… claiming that Sarah ‘manufactured baseless accusations’ related to PMMA, and that she only spoke out after losing the Olympia.”

She also shared the timeline. As per Villegas, “Shortly after the Olympia, a practicing medical professional came forward… directly connected to the PMMA clinic in Brazil.” She even wrote that the individual has shared, “extensive and detailed information… including specific dates of PMMA procedures.”

Even though she has the information in her hands, Villegas chooses not to make the information public. The information is only “discussed confidentially with appropriate industry figures.” The post read that Sarah raised this concern on July 24, 2025, “shortly after the Pittsburgh Pro, and three months before the Olympia.”

The post ended with a statement, “When individuals who speak with institutional authority advance false statements… That was not a misunderstanding. It was a choice.”

And it rightfully seems like the conversation around PMMA is far from over. This is also not the first time someone has been accused of using PMMA in bodybuilding.

Bobydbuilder accused of using PMMA

By defeating Hadi Choopan and Andrew Jacked, Derek Lunsford became the Mr. Olympia 2025, and this win made him 2-times Mr. Olympia winner.

After winning the title, Lunsford was accused of using site enhancements such as PMMA.  But his coach, Chris Aceto, denied all the allegations. In fact, some days late, Derek himself opened up on this and said, “I swear to you I don’t even know what that is.”

He further asserted his stance saying, “If I thought I had to do something like that to be where I’m at today, I would probably not be a bodybuilder.”
