Sergio Ramos Shows Elite Core Strength Training

After announcing his international retirement in 2023, Sergio Ramos, now aged 40, uploaded a training reel that proves he still moves like a pro.

The Spanish defender recently uploaded a reel in which he was seen doing push-ups and mountain climbers before loosening up with a few dance moves, then sliding into a shadowboxing sequence, complete with a sharp check hook.

In the caption of the reel, posted to his Instagram, Ramos wrote, "Training, like life, is lived with joy." His workouts look pretty effortless and playful, built on intensity and instinct.

If one follows Ramos closely, the shadowboxing will not be surprising. He is close friends with UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, and the technique on display, particularly that check hook, suggests more than a passing familiarity with the sport.

Ramos has also been open about his love of uphill sprint, back in the estates of Madrid. And for him, physical activity is just a habit. At 40, the training habits behind that longevity are exactly what this reel showcases.

Sergio Ramos' International Retirement: Why Spain Moved On

Sergio Ramos is not sprinting but sitting it out this year. "This morning I received a call from the current coach who told me that he does not and will not count on me, regardless of the level I can show," Ramos wrote as he announced his international retirement

Coach Luis de la Fuente called him back in 2023 and made it clear he was done, no matter how good Ramos still looked on the pitch.

The 40-year-old was currently in talks to join an ownership consortium aiming to take over his boyhood club Sevilla, while remaining determined to keep playing in Europe. However, the talks did not go as expected, as Sevilla cancelled the ownership deal in May 2026.

Ramos has been a precious player in the team. He owns the most caps in Spain's history and was a key piece in the 2010 World Cup win, plus back-to-back Euros in 2008 and 2012.
