“Shake It Up”- Sydney Sweeney Opens Up About the ‘Worst’ Part About Training for the Christy Martin Biopic
A few weeks ago, Sydney Sweeney joined the On-Demand Internet podcast to talk about her experience preparing for the role of Christy. When the host asked the actress what her least favorite part of training for Christy was, her answer wasn't the actual workout.
“The protein shakes were so gross," confessed Sweeney. “Oh, I had to plug my nose and just chug. I would mix it with Gatorade, and we would put things like L-carnitine, creatine, protein powder, and all this stuff in it,” Sweeney added.
The actress further explains that her team did try to dampen the strong taste, “We’d shake it up, and they would try to convince me that if I put it in orange Gatorade and used vanilla protein, it would taste like a creamsicle.”
Unfortunately, nothing really helped. “It did not taste like a creamsicle at all,” said the Hollywood star. Sydney Sweeney’s diet was extremely demanding for her role as Christy.

She gained a massive 13 kgs for her role, but gaining the weight was not difficult. The real challenge was the sheer amount of food she had to eat. “That was difficult. And it got to a point where I was eating so much food that I felt like I couldn’t, I was going to get sick, but I had to keep going,” she added.
Her daily routine revolved around training, eating, and resting, and besides the protein shake, she invited the challenge.
“I loved it,” said Sydney Sweeney about her role as Christy
While speaking with W Magazine, Sweeney revealed that her preparation for the role was extremely difficult. She had nearly three and a half months to prepare, but despite the challenges, she loved the experience.
'I loved it,' the Euphoria star quipped.“I started eating. I weight trained in the morning for an hour, kick-boxed midday for about two hours, and then weight trained again at night for an hour.”
She further added, “My body was completely different. I didn’t fit in any of my clothes. I’m usually a size 23 in jeans, and I was wearing a size 27. It was crazy! I was like, "Oh my God." But it was amazing: I was so strong, like crazy strong.”
Well, despite her hard work, the movie tanked at the box office and made roughly $1.98 million worldwide.
