Shania Twain's return to fitness after Lyme disease proves her resilience and her love for the craft. Now 60, the country singer overcame the odds to make a comeback and even go touring.

Twain faced one of the hardest challenges when she was bitten by a tick while horseback riding in 2003. The bite eventually led to her being diagnosed with Lyme disease, which gravely impacted her health and singing career.

"My symptoms were quite scary because before I was diagnosed, I was on stage very dizzy. I was losing my balance. I was afraid I was going to fall off the stage," she told ABC in 2022.

"I was having these very, very, very millisecond blackouts, but regularly, every minute or every 30 seconds," she added.

The disease affected her voice within three weeks of the bite, but for years, the doctors could not connect her declining health to Lyme disease, until a neurologist finally found the connection.

Even after suffering long-term effects to her voice, the 60-year-old is still grateful that the disease didn't spread to any other part of her body.

Shania Twain's fitness philosophy helps her stay ahead of Lyme disease

Her diet includes lots of fruits and vegetables. Being an artist who constantly performs on stage, Shania Twain considers herself an athlete and follows what she calls an 'athlete's diet.'

During her Las Vegas residency, she followed a strict liquid diet that kept her energetic on stage. But once the show is over, she indulges herself in pasta and a glass of champagne.

Being a vegetarian, she eats green vegetables, nuts, and whole foods. Her breakfast includes healthy foods like smoothies, raw coconut water, avocado, apples, blueberries, and almonds, and sometimes she goes rogue and enjoys French fries and dill pickle chips.

Shania Twain's healthy habits to stay fit at 60:

  • Walking up early.
  • Drink a smoothie.
  • Play tennis.
  • Take a walk.
  • Replace junk snacks with healthy homemade snacks.
  • Prioritize sleep.
  • Horseback riding.
  • No need for a strict diet, adapt it according to goals.
  • Eat lots of leafy greens.
  • Embrace your age and the changes that come with it.
