“She said it simple” Jennifer Lopez's muscle loss advice gets approval from fitness trainer

Jennifer Lopez maintains an impressive level of fitness that continues to amaze her fans around the world. Her workout routine always includes strength and cardio. Her mantra? She advises everyone to lift weights.
At a time when weight loss is looked at less as a journey and more as a quick fix, her take was something that struck a nerve and caught fitness coach Ryan Fischer to back it up, calling it one of the most important messages of 2026.
Jennifer Lopez, speaking to Gayle King at CBS mornings, kept her advice brutally simple, but also on point.
“I do a lot of weights now, even if you're into cardio and want to drop weight, muscle is the thing that burns fat. And as we get older, we lose the muscle. So we need to build the muscle to keep a youthful appearance.”
Lopez’s message may be simple, but in today’s quick-fix fitness culture, it carries more weight than ever. And that’s exactly where fitness coach Fischer stepped in, adding a reality check many tend to overlook.
Ryan Fischer warns of muscle loss risks in GLP-1 era, backs Jennifer Lopez’s strength-first approach
Ryan Fischer, reacting to JLo’s video, added a few more points amplifying her statement of using quick fixes like GLP-1 medication often has a long-term effect.
In the video with a long caption, that starts with: ‘She said it simple,’ he discussed, "When you lose muscle mass, you are decreasing your metabolism, you're decreasing your quality of life. As you build muscle mass, you're increasing your quality of life."
Fischer doubled down on what he calls the real long game.
"So when you take one of these GLP-1s, you're gonna be able to lose weight very, very quickly. Yes, but you're also going to lose a lot of muscle mass along the way," he added.
And here’s where things get practical. Instead of fear-mongering GLP-1 use, he offered a grounded approach.
“If you're going to take one of these things, do it with a proper strength training routine and proper nutrition.”
So the bottom line is Fischer is urging everyone to use the medication smartly and not blindly.
The fitness guru has a straightforward message here:
- Around 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight
- Full-body strength training at least 3 times a week
- Train with intent, not just to sweat
Because here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear, muscle is slow to build, but ridiculously easy to lose.
